Sources Say Ram 1500 TRX Will Return In Early 2026

Updated TRX Will Make Start Production In Late-January

Back in March, we reported that Ram was working behind the scenes to bring back its apex predator, the Ram 1500 TRX. Now, our well-placed sources within the company have confirmed that the high-performance off-roader is indeed set to return, with production (Job #1) expected to begin in late January 2026. While Ram has not officially announced the TRX’s comeback, everything we’re hearing points to a serious return—one that will also mark the first vehicle launch under the newly relaunched Street and Racing Technology (SRT) division.

Since discontinuing the 5.7-liter HEMI® V8 after the 2024 model year, Ram has been working to recenter its brand identity. After coming out of a short retirement, Ram CEO Tim Kuniskis quickly put plans in motion to get the HEMI back into the lineup. That mission is already underway, with HEMI-powered 2026 Ram 1500s expected to hit dealerships as soon as next month. But the TRX is a different beast—and its return could signal that Ram is done playing it safe.

When it first hit the market in 2021, the TRX changed the performance truck game. With 702 horsepower from its supercharged 6.2-liter HEMI® HELLCAT V8, it immediately positioned itself as the king of off-road trucks. But the competition hasn’t stood still—Ford has given its 2025 F-150 Raptor R a bump to 720 horsepower. If Ram wants to take back the top spot, the new TRX will have to bring more power to the table.

That’s where the revamped SRT team comes in. With Kuniskis—a longtime performance brand leader—now overseeing SRT’s return, expectations are high. The standard-output HELLCAT engine already makes 717 horsepower in Charger and Challenger SRT HELLCAT trims, so it wouldn’t be surprising to see the TRX tuned to meet or exceed 720 horsepower right out of the gate.

According to our sources, the 2026 TRX will carry forward the same styling and technology updates introduced with the 2025 Ram 1500 RHO. The RHO was built to go toe-to-toe with the base Raptor, while the TRX will once again square off against the more extreme Raptor R. With both models, Ram is setting the stage for an all-out war in the performance truck segment.

While Ram leadership has remained tight-lipped when pressed on the TRX’s return, Kuniskis did tease during a media event inside Stellantis’ design dome in Auburn Hills, Michigan, that there’s “more to come” before Ram hits the track in Daytona for the 2025 NASCAR season. From everything we’ve heard, the TRX is a key part of that story.

If our sources are right, 2026 is shaping up to be a massive year for Ram. With the return of the HEMI, a reinvigorated SRT brand, and the TRX back in the hunt, Ram looks ready to reclaim its crown in the high-performance truck world.

Am I seeing correctly that they are going to sell RHO and TRX side by side? That will be interesting for a number of reasons....

Let the party begin! Lots of work to be done, lots of ground to make up, lots of bad press to negate, but none-the-less, it’s party time in Mopar town again.
You bring the drinks, I’ll bring the chips, Tim can bring the fast stuff.

Sure, why wouldn’t they? RHO is an excellent option, great package. And TRX is the same only more.

Updated TRX needs to come with more than 702 though. Somewhere north of 780 or save it
