RECALL: 2023 Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid For Possible Fuel Leak

Fuel Leak Could Potentially Lead To A Fire...

Stellantis (FCA US, LLC) has announced a recall of approximately 967 units of its 2023 Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid plug-in hybrid (PHEV) minivans. The recall is in response to a potential fuel line defect that could lead to a fuel leak, presenting a risk of fire and injury to occupants, bystanders, and property.

The affected vehicles were manufactured between February 22nd, 2023, and March 8th, 2023, during which an improperly extruded fuel line was introduced into production. This defect can result in uncontained fuel in the engine compartment and increase the risk of a vehicle fire in the presence of an ignition source. Signs of the issue may include fuel odor, spills, or drips.

Recall Chronology:

  • On March 28th, 2023, the FCA US LLC (“FCA US”) Technical Safety and Regulatory Compliance (“TSRC”) organization opened an investigation into 2023 MY Chrysler Pacifica PHEVs that were built with an improperly extruded fuel line.
  • From March 2023 through June 2023, FCA US TSRC conducted an analysis of fuel line leaks, vehicle histories, and reviewed supplier data.
  • As of July 5th, 2023, FCA US has identified zero customer assistance records, two warranty claims, and zero field reports potentially related to this issue for all markets, with dates of receipt ranging from April 25th, 2023, through June 2nd, 2023.
  • As of July 5th, 2023, FCA US is not aware of any accidents or injuries potentially related to this issue for all markets.
  • On July 14th, 2023, FCA US determined, through the Vehicle Regulations Committee, to conduct a voluntary safety recall of the affected vehicles.
