Rare 1962 Chrysler 300H Convertible Hits BringATrailer

One of Just 123 Built, This Bright Red Firepower V8 Beauty Heads To Auction

If you’re a fan of early 1960s American luxury performance, this 1962 Chrysler 300H Convertible currently up for auction on BringATrailer.com deserves your attention. As one of just 123 examples produced that year, this rare open-top 300 Letter Car perfectly captures Chrysler’s blend of brute force and style during the golden age of Detroit engineering.

Refinished in its original Bright Red hue, this 300H received a full refurbishment in 2015 by noted Chrysler specialist Merle Wolfer. It remains a stunning example of craftsmanship and power, featuring a black power-operated convertible top, dual four-barrel carburetors, chrome bumpers, and those unmistakable fender-mounted mirrors that define early-’60s luxury. The car’s rocker panels were freshly repainted in 2025, and a stainless-steel exhaust system was recently installed.

Under the hood sits Chrysler’s legendary 6.8-liter (413 cubic-inch) Firepower V8 — a high-performance engine fitted with dual four-barrel carburetors and rated at 380 horsepower and 450 lb-ft of torque when new. Power is sent to the rear wheels through a push-button three-speed TorqueFlite automatic transmission, one of Chrysler’s most advanced setups of the era. The engine bay is clean and period-correct, with recent servicing that included a new battery and fluid flushes.

Inside, the 300H continues to impress. The interior is finished in tan leather with matching door panels, carpets, and four individual bucket seats — a signature of the Letter Series lineup. The dashboard houses Chrysler’s futuristic AstraDome instrument cluster, complete with a 150-mph speedometer and classic analog gauges. Comfort and convenience features include air conditioning, power windows, and a Golden Touch AM radio. The A/C system was recharged prior to the sale, ensuring the car is ready for top-down cruising.

This car rides on 15-inch steel wheels with chrome 300-logo covers, wrapped in Cooper Trendsetter white-stripe tires. The brakes are power-assisted drums, freshly serviced and flushed for reliability. Every element of this car radiates pride and care, from its immaculate brightwork to the subtle roar of its Firepower V8.

The trim tag confirms this is a factory Bright Red (PP7) example with tan interior (code 463), scheduled for production on October 18, 1961.

Offered with spare parts and a clean Oregon title, this 1962 Chrysler 300H Convertible is an exceptional piece of American motoring history — one that blends rarity, performance, and pure 1960s charm. The auction ends Friday, November 7 at 1:10 p.m. EDT.
