Ram Brings Back The Ram 1500 Classic Laramie EcoDiesel:
Second-Generation EcoDiesel Reappears In Ram U.S. Lineup...
Since the introduction of the all-new fifth-generation 2019 Ram 1500, the fourth-generation Ram 1500 (now rebadged as Ram 1500 “Classic” models) has continued to play an important part of Ram Trucks strategy of dramatically growing the brand. While the all-new trucks have been at the forefront, the Classic models have offered great value and content. However, the upper trim levels were axed to distance the 1500 Classic from the new truck.
Up until now, the highest trim level on the Ram 1500 Classic in North America has been the Big Horn while export Ram 1500 Classic markets have been able to order the entry-level luxury Laramie trim. North America has been left out, but that is changing. Ram Trucks is bringing the Laramie package back to the 1500 Classic, however, it will be in the form of a diesel power offering. That’s right, the EcoDiesel is back in the fourth-generation trucks for the U.S. market.
While the fifth-generation 2020 Ram 1500 will be featuring the new third-generation 3.0-liter EcoDiesel V6, the Ram 1500 Classic will be returning to the market with the second-generation EcoDiesel that features the same displacement. The second-generation 3.0-liter EcoDiesel V6 delivers 240 horsepower and 420 lb.-ft of torque. The EcoDiesel is paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission and is rated at 27 mpg on the highway.
The 2019 Ram 1500 Classic Laramie EcoDiesel will be available in Crew Cab configuration only. However, choice of 5’7″ or 6’4″ box, as well as 4×2 or 4×4 configurations, are available. But, Ram is packing the Laramie with a lot of unique content. The premium 20-inch polished aluminum wheels with grey inserts that were only available on the 2018 Ram 1500 Limited, will be standard equipment on the 2019 Ram 1500 Classic Laramie EcoDiesel. Other features will include…
- Dual-Zone Automatic Temperature Controls
- Leather Heated and Ventilated 40/20/40 Bench Seat
- Deluxe Door Trim Panels
- Power Adjustable Pedals
- Bi-Functional Projector Headlamps
- Premium LED Tail Lamps
- Chrome “R-A-M” Grille with Snorkels (from the 2018 Ram 1500 Limited)
- Chrome Exterior Accents
- 8.4-inch Uconnect 4C Touchscreen Display
Ram Trucks is also pricing this truck to be very competitive and it will undercut a similar equipped 2020 Ram 1500 Laramie Crew Cab EcoDiesel, offering those who have a budget and what a diesel half-ton the option to do so. The 2019 Ram 1500 Laramie EcoDiesel will start at the following prices for the U.S. market before destination…
- Crew Cab 5-foot, 7-inch bed 4×2 – $44,900 USD
- Crew Cab 5-foot, 7-inch bed 4×4 – $48,900
- Crew Cab 6-foot, 4-inch bed 4×2 – $45,600
- Crew Cab 6-foot, 4-inch bed 4×4 – $49,500
This also undercuts the Silverado LTZ Crew Cab 4×4 with the Duramax I-6 ($51,495) and F-150 Lariat Super Crew 4×4 and its PowerStroke V6 ($52,130) offerings for the 2019 model year. This does not include the huge discounts that Ram is running right now on its 2019 Ram 1500 Classic models right now.
