Ram 1500 Classic to End Production Next Month

The Affordable V8 Pickup Bids Adieu After 15 Years...

The Ram 1500 Classic (DS), a staple of the full-size pickup market for the past 15 years, is set to conclude its production run next month. Known for its durability, affordability, and straightforward utility, the Ram 1500 Classic has long been a go-to choice for both personal and commercial use. As the model gears up for its final months on the market, it leaves behind a legacy of dependable performance and value.

Ram 1500 Classic –

Manufactured at Stellantis’ Warren Truck Assembly Plant (WTAP), the Ram 1500 Classic has been a reliable entry-point pickup, particularly favored by budget-conscious buyers and small business owners. Its affordability and robustness made it a popular choice for those needing a dependable work truck without breaking the bank. The Tradesman model, in particular, has been a hit among commercial customers for offering essential features at a competitive price.

2024 Changes and Powertrain Options –

As production of the Ram 1500 Classic nears its end, the 2024 model year brings some notable changes. The truck will continue to be available in two main trims: the base Tradesman and the off-road-ready Warlock. Both trims come standard with a 3.6-liter Pentastar V6 engine, producing 305 horsepower and 269 lb-ft of torque. For those seeking more power, a 5.7-liter HEMI® V8 engine is available, delivering 395 horsepower and 410 lb-ft of torque for an additional cost of $3,045. This V8 option makes the Ram 1500 Classic the most affordable full-size pickup with a V8 engine on the market.

Features and Pricing –

The 2024 Ram 1500 Classic continues to offer essential features at an attractive price point. The Tradesman trim starts at $40,700 after the $1,995 destination charge, while the Warlock trim begins at $45,430. Both trims come equipped with a range of practical features, including 17-inch wheels, a ParkView® Rear Back-Up Camera, and vinyl seating for easy maintenance. Optional upgrades include the HEMI V8 engine and the Electronics Group, which adds Dual-Zone Automatic Temperature Control and an 8.4-inch Uconnect 5 touchscreen.

Affordability and Market Availability –

The Ram 1500 Classic’s combination of affordability and power makes it a standout option for those seeking a V8-equipped full-size pickup without a hefty price tag. As of now, Ram’s website lists 3,643 units of the 2024 Ram 1500 Classic and 737 units of the 2023 model in dealer inventory nationwide. This provides buyers with a few more months to secure one of these trusted trucks before they are officially phased out.

The Ram 1500 Classic’s impending discontinuation marks the end of an era for a truck that has offered unparalleled value and reliability. As Ram transitions to newer models, including the 2025 Ram 1500 with its modern twin-turbocharged 3.0-liter HURRICANE I6 engines, the Ram 1500 Classic will be remembered for its role as an affordable option in the full-size pickup segment.

Both of these trucks are currently available at Mount Airy Chrysler Dodge Jeep® Ram in Mount Airy, North Carolina.
