Production Disruptions Hit Stellantis’ Toledo Assembly Complex
Gladiator Production Halted, Wrangler Output Disrupted By Supplier Issues...
Production has been interrupted at Stellantis’ Toledo Assembly Complex in Ohio, which spans 3.64 million square feet and houses two key manufacturing plants: Toledo South and Toledo North. The complex is responsible for building some of Stellantis’ most popular vehicles, including the Jeep® Gladiator (JT) and Wrangler (JL).
The South Plant, where the Jeep Gladiator is produced, is experiencing a complete production halt this week. Ann Marie Fortunate, a spokesperson for Stellantis, confirmed that the plant is not operational, stating, “Stellantis continues to take the necessary actions to improve operations across the U.S. market in support of its dealer network; this includes making production adjustments where necessary to improve its competitiveness in the marketplace.”
Fortunate emphasized that these actions are part of Stellantis’ ongoing strategy to manage production and ensure the company remains competitive. The automaker is actively monitoring the situation to determine if further adjustments are needed.
Meanwhile, production at the Toledo North plant, which builds the Jeep Wrangler and Jeep Wrangler 4xe, has been disrupted due to issues with an external supplier. Although production is not halted entirely, the situation is being assessed on a shift-by-shift basis. Fortunate clarified that the plant is not cutting production but facing temporary disruptions, stating, “Due to an issue with an external supplier, production at Stellantis’ Toledo North Assembly Plant has been disrupted. We are monitoring the situation on a shift-by-shift basis.”
More specific details regarding the supplier issue and the impact on the Wrangler’s production schedule were not provided. Bruce Baumhower, President of United Auto Workers (UAW) Local 12, which represents the workers at the complex, has not yet commented on the situation.
