B5 Blue 1970 HEMI® Cuda Heads to Mecum Indy

Fully Restored, Factory R-Code Mopar Legend Crosses the Block May 16th

When it comes to American muscle, few cars carry the same weight and mystique as the 1970 Plymouth HEMI® Cuda. It’s raw, it’s rare, and it’s exactly what gearheads dream about. At this year’s Mecum Indy 2025 auction, one stunning example—finished in its original Blue Fire (B5) paint—is ready to make waves on Friday, May 16th.

This particular HEMI Cuda is the real deal—an R-code car packing Chrysler’s iconic 7.0-liter (426 cubic-inch) HEMI V8 under the N96 shaker hood. The factory-rated 425 horsepower and 490 lb-ft of torque come through a 3-speed TorqueFlite automatic transmission and a factory A32 4.10-geared Dana 60 rear axle. And yes, it moves—with zero to 60 MPH times under six seconds, this beast isn’t just for show.

And speaking of show, this car has undergone a full rotisserie restoration—meaning every inch of it, from top to bottom, inside and out, has been brought back to (or beyond) factory condition. The engine bay is concours-worthy, with correct hoses, decals, finishes, and hardware. The undercarriage? As clean and detailed as the top side.

The exterior is all attitude. That Blue Fire paint gleams, perfectly matched with J45 hood pins, a factory A21 elastomeric front bumper, shaker hood, and Rallye wheels wrapped in raised white-letter tires. The stance is dead-on. It just looks fast standing still.

Inside, the white H4XW vinyl bench seat is period-perfect, surrounded by wood-grain trim and factory-style gauges. It’s got the true 1970 muscle car vibe, but with a showroom-fresh presentation.

What really sets this car apart—besides the legendary HEMI powerplant—is the level of detail in its restoration. It’s accompanied by build and restoration photos, showing how every nut and bolt was either brought back or replaced to match factory specs.

With only 12,342 miles showing on the odometer and its big-block street cred intact, this Cuda is expected to bring serious money—estimated between $250,000 and $275,000. Whether you’re a Mopar diehard or a collector looking for a crown jewel, this B5 Blue HEMI Cuda checks every box.

Catch it at Mecum Indy 2025 on Friday, May 16th—it might just be the most badass car on the auction floor.
