The temporary shutdown on November 30th aimed to update the assembly line to integrate the enhanced STLA Large architecture. This evolution of the Giorgio architecture prioritizes electrification capabilities. The Cassino plant has historically been pivotal in housing three Giorgio-based vehicles: the Alfa Romeo Giulia, Stelvio, and the Maserati Grecale.

Recent developments have seen active work initiated at the Lastratura and Veniciatura workshops. As per the company’s management projections, there’s a likelihood that by the first quarter of 2024, the Cassino plant will witness the inception of its first electrified model – the Maserati Grecale Folgore. The production line is estimated to yield between 200 to 220 vehicles daily.

Stellantis has been strategically reducing its workforce across Italy, and the Cassino facility is no exception. The production plans for 2024 at this site will be restrained to a single shift, signifying a 50% reduction in the plant’s production capacity. Upon the plant’s reactivation, it is anticipated that only 850 employees will return to their respective roles. Further details regarding the workforce at Cassino are anticipated to be disclosed in the forthcoming weeks.
