OVERLAND READY: RMT Overland Jeep® Gladiator!

As the off-road market continues to grow, Overlanding has become more popular than ever. Since the pandemic, more and more people have decided to seek out the idea of being self-reliant while traveling to remote destinations. But it takes a special vehicle to get you through tough terrain, so it’s no surprise that the Jeep® Gladiator (JT) and Wrangler (JL) are among the most popular choices for overlanders.

RMT Overland has been building conversion vans and custom trucks in Fort Collins, Colorado since 1978 (when it was then known as Rocky Mountain Truckworks). Today, they are known for building turnkey Overland pickups based on the Jeep Gladiator Sport.

RMT Overland then adds a number of Mopar and aftermarket parts to build a turnkey adventure rig that can be purchased right off the showroom floor. This includes a warranty and all.

By adding the popular Max Tow Package to its Gladiator Sport models, RMT Overland equips their trucks with a 240-amp alternator, 4.10 axle ratio, Trac-Lok^® anti-spin rear differential, black two-piece fender flares, Class IV receiver hitch, heavy-duty Dana 44 Wide front and rear axles, heavy-duty engine cooling, and a GVW rating of 6,250 lbs.

The RMT Overland Gladiator then adds underbody rock sliders, steel bumpers with tow pins, and an electric winch, to tackle the roughest situations off-road. Customers can choose from either a 3-inch BDS lift with Fox 2.0 shocks or a 3.5-inch JKS lift with Fox PE 2.5 shocks, and 37-inch BFGoodrich Mud-Terrain KM3 rubber wrapped over 17-inch Beadlock wheels.

Making the best of the Gladiator’s pickup bed, RMT Overland fitted an aluminum rack to the top of the bedsides. The rack allows the Gladiator to carry a vehicle top tent, which folds out towards the passenger side of the vehicle on its own self-contained platform and features an easy-access ladder. RMT Overland says the tent can fit up to four people, but it should fit two full-sized adults very comfortably. 

Mounted to the rack beneath, the Gladiator can hold modular items that can be locked in place on either side. A set of MaxTrax (mud boards), fuel, and water containers can easily be mounted, while other off-road tools can easily find their way to the rack as well. The setup allows the Gladiator’s bed capable of taking your gear with you without sacrificing space.

RMT Overland also outfits the Gladiator with off-road-oriented accessories like hood-mounted lights with Baja Design cube lights which are accessible via the aux buttons in the center stack. An optional snorkel can be added for those who like to ford across waterways or that tackle trails with heavy mud.
