Next-Gen Alfa Romeo Stelvio Design Leaks Through Patent Images
Fresh Designs Hint at Major Changes Coming for Alfa’s Sporty SUV

The cat’s officially out of the bag. After early spy shots showed heavily camouflaged prototypes back in March 2025, the first leaked images of the next-generation Alfa Romeo Stelvio have surfaced — this time straight from patent filings. While these designs might not show the finished product down to the last detail, they give us our best look yet at what’s coming next for Alfa’s popular SUV.

If you’ve followed Alfa Romeo before, you’ll know patent designs don’t always match the final version that rolls into showrooms. But this time around, the spy photos and the official filings line up pretty closely, suggesting the real thing might not be far off from what we’re seeing now. Keep in mind, though, the prototypes are still in the testing phase, so small tweaks and refinements are likely before the covers come off for good.
Speaking of timing, the new Stelvio’s launch has been pushed back — mainly because of software issues tied to its upcoming electric version. The official reveal is now expected by the end of 2025, but we might get our first real taste of it as early as June 24th when Alfa Romeo celebrates its 115th anniversary.

The all-new Stelvio will ride on Stellantis’ advanced STLA Large platform, the same one planned for the new Giulia sedan. Production will stay in Italy at Alfa’s Cassino Assembly Plant, keeping some of that old-world charm alive.
As for what’s under the hood, things have gotten interesting. Alfa originally planned to go all-electric for the Stelvio, but due to market demands (and probably some good old-fashioned enthusiast feedback), gas-powered versions are now back on the table. Even the high-performance Quadrifoglio model, once rumored to be a 1,000-horsepower EV monster, is shifting gears. Instead, a Q4 all-wheel-drive setup with a traditional V6 engine is expected to headline the performance lineup.

Tech-wise, the new Stelvio will be the first Alfa to feature Stellantis’ futuristic “STLA Brain” electrical architecture. That means expect tons of AI-driven features and smarter, more advanced onboard systems than anything Alfa’s ever offered before.
We’ll be keeping a close eye on this one. With more details expected soon, the next-generation Stelvio looks like it’s aiming to bring the best of both worlds: Italian passion with modern tech and performance options for all types of drivers.
