Mopars, Meat & Memories: Texas Modern Mopar Clubs Cruise for BBQ

A Rescheduled Date Didn’t Stop Mopar Fans From Bringing the Heat to Luling

After a one-week delay due to winter weather, the Space City LX Modern Mopar and Alamo City LX Modern Mopar (ACLX) clubs hit the road for the 17th annual “Meat” and Greet in Luling, Texas. Located just south of Austin—about an hour from San Antonio and a little over two hours from Houston—Luling is famous for its barbecue, making it the perfect spot for a Mopar cruise.

With around 50 Mopars filling the parking lot, the event was a feast for both the eyes and the stomach. High-impact colors stood out under the Texas sun, and we gathered at the legendary City Market BBQ to enjoy some of the best brisket, ribs, and sausage around—so good that sauce wasn’t even necessary. While City Market is a must-visit, Luling BBQ and Blake’s Café offer great alternatives just down the road.

As we ate, more members from Space City LX arrived, adding a mix of Dodge Chargers, Challengers, Chrysler 300s, and even a Durango SRT HELLCAT to the lineup. While I typically would have driven my Charger SRT392, the perfect weather made it impossible to resist taking out my AAR ’Cuda. My dad also swapped his Chrysler 300S for his Duster 340, adding some classic muscle to the mix.

The turnout was slightly smaller than past years, likely due to the reschedule, but the enthusiasm for Mopars and barbecue remained as strong as ever. With Dodge’s upcoming Charger SIXPACK lineup on the horizon, the future looks bright for modern Mopar clubs. If you’re not part of a local club yet, take the time to find one—whether you drive a new or classic Mopar, you’ll find a community that shares your passion and is always ready to cruise, eat, and talk cars.
