Maserati Releases Teaser Images Of Its All-New GranCabrio Convertible.

Should Mirror The GranTurismo...

Coming hot off of its introduction of the all-new 2023 Maserati GranTurismo, the “trident” brand has released some teaser shots of its open-air option: the GranCabrio.

Prototypes of the GranCabrio are now taking to the streets of Modena, Italy for the car’s initial stages of development testing. We expect those vehicles will mirror their coupe companions in options and equipment.

We already know that the GranCabrio will have the same powertrain options as the GranTurismo. In the GranTurismo, Maserati equipped the coupe with the revolutionary twin-turbocharged 3.0-liter “Nettuno” V6 available in two different versions: the 490 horsepower Modena and the high-performance 550 horsepower Trofeo.

Alternatively, the GranCabrio Folgore will adopt the GranTurismo’s 100% BEV-based powertrain. The Folgore system is based on 800-volt technology and has been developed with cutting-edge technical solutions derived from Formula E. It offers superb performance, made possible by the three powerful 300-kW permanent magnet motors.

The battery has a nominal capacity of 92.5 kWh and a discharge capacity of 560 kW, to continuously transmit around 760 horsepower to the wheels. The specific set-up and innovative layout of the battery result in the containment of vehicle height to 1,353mm (53.2 inches), without compromising its sporty nature. The shape of the battery pack, known as a ‘T-bone,’ forms part of Maserati’s “zero compromises” approach and avoids placing the battery modules under the seats, mainly moving them around the central tunnel and therefore considerably lowering the car’s H-point.

What sets the GranCabrio apart is its power convertible multilayer canvas top. The GranCabrio will join the new MC20 Cielo roadster, offering a pair of open-air options for customers to choose from. But the power top will also give the GranCabrio a sleeker profile when the roof is down over the GranTurismo. We expect the GranCabrio to be a “hot” seller in warmer weather climates across the globe.

We expect the GranCabrio to make its official debut sometime in Q2 2023.
