Jeep® Brings Back Two-Door Rubicon Model Back To Australia, But There Is A Catch!

Its Only Available On The Limited Edition Recon...

The Jeep® brand launched its 2020 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon Recon models almost a year ago in the North American marketplace. Since then, we have been covering all of the variants of the limited edition as it has been offered in various markets around the globe. Now, we are getting our look at the Australian offering of the popular buzz model.

Starting with the Wrangler Rubicon as its basis, the Recon includes the following equipment…

• Tru-Lok® Front & Rear Locking Differentials
• Front Stabilizer Bar Disconnect
• Rubicon Steel Front Bumper
• Jeep® Performance Parts – Bumper Hoop
• Jeep® Performance Parts – Tailgate Reinforcement System
• 32-Inch BFGoodrich All-Terrain T/A tires
• 17-Inch Machined and Black Painted Wheels

The Australian model ditches the 2.0-liter turbocharged inline-four-cylinder found in the North American and China models, as well as the 2.2-liter Multijet diesel in the European models for the 3.6-liter Pentastar V6 with Engine Start/Stop (ESS) instead. The Pentastar delivers 209kW (280 horsepower) and 347 Nm (256 lb.-ft.) of torque. Of course, the Pentastar is mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission as standard equipment.

All Wrangler Rubicon Recon models feature next-generation Dana front and rear heavy-duty axles and Rock-Trac NV241 two-speed transfer case with a 4.0:1 low-range gear ratio. Wrangler Rubicon Recon also includes electric front and rear locking differentials and a disconnecting front sway bar.

What really sets the Australian Rubicon Recon limited-edition apart, is the fact that it is the only way to get the Rubicon in a two-door  “down under” as the standard Rubicon model is only available in a four-door (Unlimited) configuration.

The limited-edition Rubicon Recon will only have a production run of 100 models for the Aussie market. Of those 100, only 40 of the two-door models will be built.

“A two-door Jeep Wrangler Rubicon continues to be a much-desired proposition amongst the Australian off-roading community, and we’re so excited to make this dream a reality with the Recon limited edition,” Guillaume Drelon, Jeep Australia’s director of brand and product strategy said. “It offers the everyday practicality many seek, whilst remaining adventure ready.”

2020 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon Recon pricing starts at $66,950 plus on-road costs, or $71,450 for the four-door Unlimited model. That is a $6,000 premium over the standard Pentastar-powered Wrangler Unlimited Rubicon. There is a Premium Package which offers body-colored fender flares and a hard top for an additional $3,000.

The Rubicon Recon can be outfitted in 8 exterior colors which include, Black, Bright White, Firecracker Red, Ocean Blue, Granite Crystal, Sting-Gray, Sarge, and HellaYella!

The Australian-Spec 2020 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon Recon start to arrive in dealer showrooms this month.
