Just How Thirsty Is The 2021 Jeep® Wrangler Unlimited Rubicon 392?
EPA Releases Official Numbers On The New HEMI-Powered Wrangler...
When the Jeep® brand unveiled its new 2021 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Rubicon 392 in November, it answered the pleas from Wrangler fans to put more power under the hood of the iconic off-roader. To help Jeep create the ultimate factory performance Wrangler, engineers installed the first V8 in the vehicle’s history in 40 years – the 6.4-liter (392 cubic-inch) SRT HEMI V8.
Producing 470 horsepower and 470 lb.-ft. of torque in its production form, the 392 HEMI-equipped Wrangler is mated to an 8-speed 8HP75 TorqueFlite automatic. The combo is capable of propelling the four-door off-roader to a 0 to 60 mph time of 4.5 seconds and a 1/4-mile pass in 13 seconds flat. Pretty darn impressive for most SUVs, let alone a Wrangler.
The Wrangler Unlimited Rubicon 392 is the most recent addition to the revised 2021 Wrangler lineup. The 392 HEMI joins the new plug-in hybrid powertrain of the new Wrangler Unlimited 4xe lineup, the potent and efficient 3.0-liter EcoDiesel V6, 2.0-liter turbocharged GME-T4 (Global Medium Engine – Turbo 4-Cylinder) inline-four-cylinder, and the award-winning 3.6-liter Pentastar V6 with eTorque mild-hybrid system. The five powertrains allow the Wrangler to offer the most diverse powertrain lineup in the Stellantis portfolio.
Thanks to a new posting from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), we are finally getting to see the official fuel economy numbers for the new 2021 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Rubicon 392. With an official rating of 13 MPG City, 17 MPG Highway, and 14 MPG Combined, how does the 392 HEMI-powered Rubicon do against the rest of the Wrangler lineup?
