Jeep® Returns To Taiwan After 15 Years
An American Icon Officially Re-Enters The Taiwanese Market
After a 15-year hiatus, Jeep® is officially back in Taiwan, marking one of the most significant automotive brand returns the region has seen in more than a decade. Announced this past week, Jeep’s re-entry goes far beyond a simple product launch—it represents a renewed long-term commitment to Taiwanese consumers who value authentic off-road capability, heritage, and lifestyle-driven vehicles.
Jeep’s return is spearheaded by PG UNION, the brand’s exclusive general distributor in Taiwan, and immediately positions Jeep as a serious, long-term player rather than a short-term experiment. For a brand that has defined off-road culture for more than 80 years, this moment is less about nostalgia and more about reconnecting with its roots in a market that has continued to evolve during Jeep’s absence.
An American Brand With Global Influence –

Founded in the United States in 1941, Jeep earned its reputation through real-world use—first in military service, then across farms, deserts, mountains, and trails around the globe. Over the decades, Jeep became more than a vehicle manufacturer; it became a symbol of freedom and self-determination.
That philosophy was reinforced during the Taiwan launch event, where Jeep’s long-standing brand mantra was highlighted. As the Jeep brand has consistently emphasized, “GO ANYWHERE, DO ANYTHING | Boundaries are Yours to Define.” The statement reflects Jeep’s engineering-first mindset and the cultural identity that has defined the brand for generations.
The launch event drew representatives from Taiwan’s Ministry of Finance, the American Institute in Taiwan (AIT), and the American Chamber of Commerce (AmCham), underscoring Jeep’s status as one of the most recognizable American automotive brands and reinforcing the deepening economic and cultural ties between Taiwan and the United States.
Wrangler Takes Center Stage –

Jeep’s return to Taiwan is anchored by its most iconic nameplate: the Jeep Wrangler. The choice is deliberate. If Jeep were going to reintroduce itself, it would do so with the model that best represents its DNA.
During the launch presentation, Jeep brand leadership emphasized Wrangler’s origins, stating that “The Jeep Wrangler is not a model born out of market demand, but one forged in battlefields and wilderness.” That philosophy continues to shape the vehicle today.
The Wrangler retains its body-on-frame (BoF) full box ladder structure—a design chosen specifically to handle extreme off-road stress. Unlike unibody SUVs, this construction allows the chassis to absorb twisting forces encountered during rock crawling, deep ruts, and heavy articulation while maintaining cabin integrity and long-term durability.
Complementing the frame are Dana® solid axles, a cornerstone of Wrangler’s mechanical credibility. Sahara models prioritize balance and everyday comfort, while Rubicon models feature heavy-duty Dana® axles engineered to withstand extreme loads, articulation, and uneven terrain. This hardware exists for capability, not aesthetics.
Trail Rated: Capability That’s Tested, Not Claimed –

Every Wrangler introduced to Taiwan carries Jeep’s Trail Rated® certification, earned only after completing extensive real-world testing at the Nevada Automotive Test Center (NATC) in the United States.
The Trail Rated® badge validates performance across five key areas: ground clearance, water fording, articulation, traction, and maneuverability. Internally, Jeep’s global engineering philosophy describes this standard bluntly: “Absolutely Jeep, or just very standard.”
In short, Trail Rated® confirms that every Wrangler sold can perform exactly as advertised—on real terrain, not just in marketing materials.
Sahara And Rubicon: Two Interpretations Of Freedom –

The Taiwan lineup includes both Wrangler Sahara and Wrangler Rubicon, each offering a distinct personality built on the same core Jeep values.
Sahara is aimed at drivers who want daily usability paired with legitimate off-road confidence. Its Selec-Trac® 4×4 system automatically adapts to traction conditions, making it well-suited for commuting, long-distance travel, gravel roads, and light trail use.
Rubicon is engineered for extreme environments. Equipped with Jeep’s Rock-Trac® 4×4 system, a 4.0:1 low-range gear ratio, locking differentials, and a disconnecting front sway bar, Rubicon is built for technical trails where careful wheel placement and low-speed torque matter most.
Modern Technology Meets Traditional Toughness –

While Wrangler stays true to its mechanical roots, it’s fully modern inside. A 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system runs the latest Uconnect 5 software with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto™. A digital instrument cluster provides real-time vehicle data and off-road information, including pitch, roll, and drivetrain status.
Power comes from a turbocharged 2.0-liter GME-T4 I4 engine producing 270 horsepower (201 kW) and 400 Nm (295 lb.-ft.) of torque, paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission. The setup balances strong low-end response with refined on-road manners and supports a maximum towing capacity of 5,000 lbs (2,268 kg).
Safety is comprehensive, with more than 85 active and passive safety systems, including adaptive cruise control (ACC), automatic emergency braking (AEB), blind-spot monitoring (BSM), rear cross-path detection, and a reinforced steel-and-aluminum body structure.
A Long-Term Commitment To Taiwan –

PG UNION has outlined an aggressive rollout plan, including eight Jeep global-standard showrooms and 17 authorized service centers across Taiwan. Public showroom openings began yesterday, December 13, 2025.
As emphasized during the launch, Jeep and PG UNION leadership stated that “The return of Jeep is not a continuation of the past but the beginning of a new chapter.” With the Wrangler leading the charge, Jeep is positioning itself for sustainable growth—built on authenticity, capability, and trust.
