While many of us in North America think of the Jeep® Renegade as the entry-level offering bring people into the Jeep brand, the reality is that the Renegade is a huge part of the brand’s global presence. This past week in Europe, French magazine SUV Crossover, published by Éditions Larivière gave the new 2019 Jeep Renegade their “2019 Urban SUV of the Year” award.

Julien Renavand, editor-in-chief of the magazine, said “present for several years in the urban SUV segment, Renegade has recently benefited from a restyling, both in terms of aesthetics and technical content, which allowed it to reposition itself at the top of the category. A return appreciated by our readers who have not been insensitive to the charm and qualities of this Jeep.”

In France, the Renegade offers a wide range of engines and models that fascinates French customers, who have made it the most sold Jeep model in France since its inception in 2014. The revamped 2019 Jeep Renegade now has new, efficient turbocharged gasoline engines in the country, a 120 horsepower 1.0-liter 3-cylinder engine and the 1.3-liter 4-cylinder with 150 horsepower or 180 horsepower variants, confirms that the Renegade represents an interesting offer both in terms of technology and new equipment.

Last week in Geneva, the Jeep brand showed off the future of the Jeep brand with the Renegade plug-in hybrid (PHEV). This new electrified Jeep, will help boost the brand’s presence in Europe where high gasoline prices have kept customers more towards small cars and away from the crossover and SUV segments, while respecting the environment.

This latest achievement by the Jeep Renegade, continues to add to Jeep’s impressive award feats for the 2019 model year.
