Jeep® Mexico Rolls Out Another Special Edition Wrangler Rubicon Model!
Rubicon Sunrider Adds New Top & New Colors For Mexican Marketplace...
It seems like every week we are talking about some type of special edition or “buzz model” of Jeep® on this site. But this latest one comes from Mexico and is focused on the Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Rubicon. Meet the 2022 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon Sunrider Special Edition, a unique model made for the Mexican market, using popular options from the U.S. and Canadian markets.
Taking a base 2022 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Rubicon, the Sunrider Special Edition adds the new Sunrider Flip Top for Hardtop that offers a front-row soft top that quickly and easily flips back for an enhanced open-air driving experience. The Sunrider Flip Top is constructed from ultra-premium black twill fabric common on many high-end luxury convertibles, making it capable of protecting against inclement weather.
Of course, being a Rubicon model you get unmatched off-road capabilities with 4×4 Command-Trac® and Rock-Trac® 4×4 systems, the latest generation of Dana axles, front and rear electronic locking differentials Tru-Lock, all-terrain tires, Rock Rails steel crash bars, and steel skid plates, and a unique hood with functional Power Dome vents.
The Rock-Trac® 4×4 system incorporates the latest generation of high-performance Dana 44 front and rear axles, and a 4:1 final ratio (4LO) reduction gear. As standard, the ratio of the front and rear axles is 4.10. Also standard are Tru-Lok electronic locking differentials.
The 2022 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon Sunrider Special Edition offers improved articulation and total suspension travel over the previous generation with the help of an electronically disengageable stabilizer bar. The Wrangler Rubicon has an impressive crawl ratio of 77:2:1. The system allows you to easily overcome any obstacle, no matter how complicated it may seem. The Rock-Trac system offers permanent torque management, allowing optimal grip in low traction conditions.
Outside, the Rubicon Sunrider Special Edition includes LED headlights and fog lamps which provide crisp white light and add to the Wrangler’s distinctive look. It features familiar daytime running lights that form a halo around the outer perimeter of the headlights, and front turn signals located on the front of the fenders. There is also the addition of a Black grille as well.
With only 100 units being produced for the Mexican market, the Sunrider Special Edition is offered in two exterior colors not offered in Mexico: Hydro Blue and Sting-Gray.
Inside the cabin, you see your standard Rubicon interior. The Sunrider Special Edition incorporates the renowned 8.4-inch Uconnect 4C infotainment screen with navigation. Two USB ports in the front and another two within reach of the rear occupants connect to the “media” center. Multiple 12-volt auxiliary power outlets are located throughout the Wrangler’s interior. Black leather seats with 6-way manual driver’s seat adjustment, 2-way manual lumbar adjustment, and a 60/40 split-folding rear seat are also included in the package.
Under the hood is the award-winning 3.6-liter Pentastar V6 with an eTorque mild-hybrid (mHEV) system. The Pentastar delivers 285 horsepower and 260 lb.-ft. of torque and is mated to an 8-speed 850RE TorqueFlite automatic transmission.
The eTorque mild-hybrid system includes automatic Engine Stop/Start (ESS), electronic power steering, extended injection cut-off, gear management, intelligent battery charging, and regenerative braking. Both the engine and the fuel flow can be turned off during stops, descents, or deceleration phases.
The Sunrider Special Edition also gets enhanced safety features like Blind Spot Monitoring, Rear Cross-Traffic Control, ParkView Backup Camera with Dynamic Grid Lines, and Electronic Stability Control (ESC) with Electronic Roll Mitigation, and four front-mounted airbags.
The 2022 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon Sunrider Special Edition has a starting price of $1,321,900 MXN (or about $65,796.25 USD). It is currently available for ordering at Jeep Mexico dealers.
