Jeep® Low Down Concept Shines at Detroit 4Fest

Exploring The Latest 392 HEMI®-Powered Wrangler Concept at Holly Oaks ORV Park...

This past weekend, we had the pleasure of attending Detroit 4Fest, an exciting off-road festival held at the new Holly Oaks ORV Park in southeastern Michigan. The event was packed with off-road activities for everyone, from test drives and vendor displays to BBQ and hands-on off-road training sessions. Jeep® took center stage as an official sponsor, offering the opportunity for off-road enthusiasts to earn a new Badge of Honor by tackling the challenging course.

Among the Jeep concepts on display, one that stood out to us was the Jeep Low Down Concept. Originally revealed at the 58th Annual Easter Jeep® Safari in Moab, Utah, this concept pays tribute to the earlier Jeep Wrangler Lower 40 Concept while bringing its unique twist. The Low Down is an impressive Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Rubicon 392 that has been heavily modified to boost its off-road performance without sacrificing stability.

The Low Down Concept features an incredible set of 42-inch BFGoodrich Krawler mud-terrain tires, measuring 42×14.5R20, mounted on 20-inch beadlock wheels. To fit such large tires, Jeep added custom high-clearance carbon fender flares, while keeping the stock Wrangler Unlimited Rubicon 392 suspension. One of the most notable upgrades is the swap from Dana 44 axles with 4.10 gears to beefier Dana 60 axles paired with 5.38 gears, giving the Low Down extra durability and strength. Despite the massive tire size, the Jeep’s center of gravity stays low, thanks to some creative modifications like shortened front and rear bumpers. This setup significantly improves ground clearance, approach and departure angles, and the breakover angle, making it even more capable on tough terrain.

The exterior design is equally eye-catching. Coated in a striking Poison Apple Red paint, the body has been streamlined by removing the rear door handles and adding a custom carbon hood with a see-through power dome. A race-style fuel filler door on the driver-side rear quarter panel adds to the concept’s unique look. Inside, the Low Down’s cabin has custom black leather seats with cloth inserts, durable Rhino-lined floors, and a minimalist radio-delete instrument panel. The red-tinted bikini top not only looks cool but casts a warm glow over the interior.

Under the hood, the Jeep Low Down packs serious power with its 475-horsepower 6.4-liter (392 cubic-inch) HEMI® V8 engine. This powerhouse is mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission, providing all the muscle needed for any off-road adventure. As Jeep plans to phase out the HEMI from the Wrangler lineup after 2025, the Low Down serves as a reminder of just how thrilling the Wrangler can be when powered by a mighty 392 HEMI V8.
