The 2022 Jeep® Compass 4xe plug-in hybrid (PHEV) arrived in Brazil with the important mission of debuting the 4xe nameplate in one of the brand’s best-selling markets. Bringing together performance, technology, and sophistication, the Compass 4xe impresses wherever it goes. So much so, that it was highlighted at the CAR AWARDS BRAZIL 2023 awards and took the “Imported SUV” title.
Promoted by CAR Magazine since 2009, CAR AWARDS BRAZIL 2023 marked its thirteenth edition with a trophy delivery ceremony that took place on Tuesday, November 8th, in São Paulo. Among the 8 categories in the awards ceremony, the Compass 4xe took top honors in the imported category.
Now you might say, I thought the Compass was also manufactured in Brazil and it is it. However, the electrified 4xe model comes from the Melfi Assembly Plant in Italy.
Thanks to its unique efficiency and performance, the 4xe produces a combined output of 240 horsepower. That is enough power to send the Compass 4xe from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 6.8 seconds. Not bad for a compact SUV, however, the electrified powertrain also allows the Compass 4xe to achieve up to 25.4 km/l (or 59.4 MPG) and an electric-only range of 44 kilometers (27.3 miles). The Compass 4xe can completely charge in less than 2 hours as well.
In addition, the 4xe includes a four-wheel drive (4×4) system with four driving modes, Hill Descent Control (HDC) and 4×4 Lock and 4×4 Low functions. Only available in the luxurious yet sporty “S” trim in Brazil, the Compass 4xe comes with loads of standard equipment including a wide range of advanced driving assistance, such as Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB), Lane Change Alert (LCA) with correction and automatic high beam headlamps.
