Jeep® Compass 4xe (J4U): Built for the Trails, Ready for Real Life

Rugged, Refined, and Ready for Adventure

The all-new Jeep® Compass 4xe (J4U) isn’t just a facelift—it’s a purpose-built evolution of the compact SUV that blends trail-capable engineering with smart interior upgrades for real-life adventures. Jeep took the already-popular Compass and gave it a serious off-road attitude, all while making it more practical and comfortable for families, pet owners, and weekend warriors.

From the ground up, this Compass 4xe is ready to tackle more than just the morning commute. Jeep raised the suspension by 10 mm to improve ground clearance and revised the approach, breakover, and departure angles to 27°, 16°, and 31°, respectively. Trail-ready bumpers, a modular black Bumper Shield with an anti-scratch finish, and a rear tow hook make it easier to handle rough terrain and tough conditions without worry.

Tires with a taller sidewall and new 19-inch wheels provide better grip and added durability, while a matte black decal on the hood cuts down glare from direct sunlight—a welcome addition when you’re driving into the wilderness.

Inside is where the Compass J4U really steps up. Jeep reimagined the cabin with rugged, easy-to-clean materials built for active lifestyles. The seat fabric is coated with polyurethane, making it twice as durable as conventional cloth. The rear seatbacks are also scratch-resistant, making them ideal for hauling dogs, camping gear, or sports equipment. There’s also extra onboard storage and heavy-duty rubber floor mats designed to handle mud, gravel, water, and everything in between.

The cabin’s tan color scheme was chosen to conceal dirt and maintain a clean appearance even after a rough day outdoors. Red trim accents replace the standard silver elements, giving the 4xe model a distinctive look and added personality. The Selec-Terrain® system includes a dedicated off-road mode, and there’s even an always-on altitude display for those mountain getaways.

“For me, the new Jeep Compass 4xe isn’t just a product I helped shape—it’s a vehicle that supports how I live,” said Daniele Calonaci, Head of Jeep® Design Europe. “It balances performance with practicality and keeps the spirit of adventure alive in everyday life. Whether you’re tackling trails, hauling kids, or heading into the mountains, it just works. It’s built for people like me, and I think a lot of customers are going to connect with that.”

Underneath all of this is the STLA Medium platform from Stellantis, which supports multiple powertrains, including mild-hybrid (mHEV), e-hybrid, plug-in hybrid (PHEV), and full battery electric (BEV) options. It’s a forward-thinking move that keeps the Compass efficient, capable, and relevant in response to changing customer needs.

Jeep has officially opened orders for the new Compass 4xe in Europe, where demand for compact SUVs and hybrid tech continues to grow. However, we’re still waiting to hear when North American customers can place their orders. With the U.S. and Canada being key Jeep markets—especially for off-road models—it’s likely only a matter of time before more info drops.

With over 2.5 million Compass units sold globally since 2006, this next-generation model keeps the nameplate relevant—and trail-ready—for years to come.
