It’s April Fools Day and the Dodge brand treated everyone to a funny meme this morning on its social media site. A picture featuring a ‘Do Not Distrubed’ button where the ‘SRT’ pages button is located on the new 797 horsepower 2021 Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat Redeye Widebody. The picture came along with the text “We finally listened to your neighbors. Introducing the all-new SRT® Do Not Disturb Mode. No more noise complaints”.
It is Dodge’s way to mock the 2021 Ford Mustang’s ‘Good Neighbor Mode’, which uses the Mustang’s active valve exhaust to quiet the exhaust note. In other words, a nice way not to tick off the neighbors with that loud morning cold starts. But what is the fun in that?
Since 2017, both the Dodge Charger and Challenger models have offered an electronically controlled active exhaust system to deliver a signature Dodge muscle-car sound on all of its HEMI-powered cars. Thus, making the muscle car duo some of the best vehicles to start up in the morning to hear that engine growl.
So when next time you go out and fire up your HEMI-powered Challenger or Charger and your neighbor gets mad, just tell them to deal with it! Because the rumble of a HEMI V8 will always sound better than the quietness of an electric vehicle.
