This 1943 Dodge WC-57 Command Car is a real piece of American military history. Out of only about 6,000 built, this one has been fully refurbished and is now looking for a new home. It’s currently listed on BringATrailer.com with bidding ending tomorrow, Wednesday, April 30, at 2:15 p.m. EDT.

The truck was bought by its current owner in 2018 and sent to Lasky Coachworks in Los Angeles, California, for a full refresh. The body was repainted in classic olive drab with a satin-finish clear coat. A new green canvas top was installed, along with a bunch of other updates like a new radiator, fuel tank, tires, windshield, and wiper motors.
It’s powered by a Dodge 3.8-liter (230 cubic-inch) I6 engine that was factory-rated at 92 horsepower and 180 lb-ft of torque. Power runs through a four-speed manual transmission and a single-speed transfer case. You can drive it with rear-wheel drive or switch to four-wheel drive when needed.

This WC-57 is loaded with authentic gear: a Braden 7,600-pound front winch, blackout lights, a brush guard, a rear pintle hitch, gun and antenna mounts, a siren, a folding tailgate, and tools like a pick, axe, and shovel mounted out back. There’s even a jerry can and collapsible bucket on the left running board.
The inside was fully redone too. The front and rear benches were reupholstered in brown vinyl, and the truck keeps its rugged military look with body-color metal panels, a textured rubber floor, and original-style placards. It’s even got lap belts up front for safety.

The dash has simple gauges, including a 60-mph speedometer (currently disconnected), plus voltage, amperage, oil pressure, fuel level, and coolant temp gauges. The odometer shows about 2,000 miles, but the true mileage is unknown.
One of the coolest extras? A working vintage Farnsworth BC-604-DM two-way military radio in the back, complete with frequency crystals and a canvas cover.

It also comes with a Plus-a-Gram record player and some records, a first-aid kit, a document box (“general’s desk”), tools, a display board, an air pump, a radio antenna, and even a 2024 car show award from the Petersen Automotive Museum.
This 1943 Dodge WC-57 is ready to hit the show circuit or even cruise around town — a rare, well-restored piece of American history.
