TSR Nitro Team Is Looking To Make History At Final Mile-High Nationals

The Last NHRA Event At Bandimere Speedway, Takes Place This Weekend...

The legendary Bandimere Speedway holds a special place in the hearts of Tony Stewart Racing (TSR) drivers Leah Pruett and Matt Hagan. As they gear up for the 22-race NHRA Camping World Drag Racing Series, both racers reflect on their fond memories at the iconic “Mountain” venue. However, there is a touch of nostalgia in the air as the 2023 edition of the NHRA national event marks the end of an era, with Bandimere Speedway concluding its straight-line activities after 65 years as a drag-racing facility.

Pruett, the defending Dodge Power Brokers NHRA Mile-High Nationals Top Fuel champion, and Hagan, the three-time NHRA Funny Car world champion, have their sights set on the final Dodge Power Brokers Mile-High Nationals winner’s circle. The partnership between Dodge and Mopar has spanned 35 years, making this event even more significant.

For Pruett, Bandimere Speedway holds a special place in her heart. She describes it as her favorite track on the NHRA circuit, citing the mountainous location and the mile-high elevation. Her connection to Bandimere Speedway runs deep, from winning her first NHRA Wally trophy at the tender age of 8 to clinching her first Top Fuel race victory in 2018. The enthusiastic fans and the enduring relationship between Mopar, Dodge Power Brokers, and Direct Connection have contributed to the track’s unique atmosphere. Pruett hopes to secure another victory at this beloved venue.

Hagan’s journey to Bandimere Speedway victory lane was not without its challenges. Although he confesses not being a fan of the high altitude, Hagan appreciates the breathtaking scenery and the electric atmosphere at the track. Despite facing setbacks such as fires and mechanical failures, Hagan emerged victorious at the Mile-High Nationals and understands the significance of this final race. He recognizes the passionate fanbase and the immense support from Dodge and Mopar, creating an unforgettable event. Hagan is determined to perform strongly in his TSR Direct Connection Dodge//SRT Hellcat.

As the Dodge Power Brokers NHRA Mile-High Nationals approaches, all racers will pay homage to the 43 years of NHRA event action on the “Mountain.” Memories will be shared, and competitors will strive for victory in what promises to be an emotionally charged event. Leah Pruett fondly reminisces about her early racing days and the Junior Dragsters victories, while Matt Hagan recalls the aspirations he held while working as a crew member, hoping for a Top Fuel ride in the future. Winning twice at Bandimere Speedway in Top Fuel remains one of Pruett’s most cherished achievements.

The Bandimere family, whose lineage spans four generations at the racing facility, will be honored for their contributions to the sport and unwavering support for drag racing in Colorado since 1958. Bandimere Speedway has become a hallmark of excellence thanks to the family’s commitment and innovation.
