In a move that bridges the past and the future, FIAT has officially revealed the all-new 500 Ibrida (Hybrid) at its historic Mirafiori plant in Turin, Italy. The event marked both a return to roots and a new chapter for one of Italy’s most iconic vehicles, on the very day the original 500 was launched back in 1957.

Production of the new 500 Hybrid kicks off this November at Mirafiori’s Carrozzerie facility, with a goal of rolling out 5,000 units by the end of 2025. Pre-production models are already being built, and Stellantis states that everything is progressing exactly as planned, based on the roadmap shared with the Italian government last December. Once up and running at full speed, the plant expects to pump out around 100,000 of these new hybrids annually.
So what exactly is the new 500 Hybrid? At its core, it’s a blend of the car’s timeless charm with modern tech and efficiency. Offered in three body styles—Hatchback, Cabrio, and the clever 3+1 (with a small third door for easier rear access)—the 500 Hybrid is powered by a 1.0-liter FireFly I3 mild-hybrid engine paired with a 6-speed manual transmission. It’s not a plug-in, but rather a simple and efficient hybrid setup designed to cut fuel consumption and emissions without changing the driving experience.

Inside, the little city car is equipped with advanced technology. There’s a 10.25-inch touchscreen running FIAT’s Uconnect 5 infotainment system, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto™, and a 7-inch digital cluster behind the wheel. Safety-wise, it features automatic emergency braking, lane keep assist, and traffic sign recognition—perfect for navigating tight city streets.
During the launch event, FIAT CEO Olivier François called the return of the 500 to Mirafiori “a promise kept,” adding:
“This factory is more than just a production site; it’s FIAT’s home. The beating heart of a story that began in 1957 with Dante Giacosa.”

To celebrate, FIAT will release a special edition 500 called “Torino”—named in honor of the city that gave birth to the brand and the car itself. It’s a nod to the people, the workers, and the company’s rich automotive heritage.
Beyond the specs and nostalgia, this launch is also a signal. It shows Stellantis is serious about revitalizing Italian manufacturing and giving iconic models a future in an increasingly electrified world. The new 500 Hybrid isn’t just another car—it’s a bridge between tradition and innovation, affordability and tech, and most importantly, between FIAT and the people it was built for.
