The 2024 Dodge Durango impresses with its outstanding performance and an interior that seamlessly combines utility, advanced technology, and bold styling. Inside, the spacious design is complemented by a revamped driver-centric cockpit, instrument panel, center console, and front door uppers, complete with seat memory switches, ensuring accessibility across the entire Durango lineup. Standard heated front seats and a heated steering wheel add to the comfort of all Durango models.
Drawing inspiration from the Challenger, the driver-oriented cockpit exudes refinement, luxury, and modern technology. A standout feature is the available 10.1-inch touchscreen, thoughtfully angled 7 degrees towards the driver for ease of use. The center stack boasts a 10.1-inch touchscreen equipped with the Uconnect 5 system, designed with a horizontal orientation for convenience. The mid-mounted switch bank features chrome-striped toggles, enhancing the interior’s overall sporty and high-tech feel. Comfort controls, including heated and cooled seat buttons, are thoughtfully positioned for effortless access, completing the upscale and driver-focused experience of the Durango.
Performance –
The 2024 Dodge Durango offers an impressive array of powertrain options, ensuring it stands out in the competitive full-size E-SUV segment.
At the top of the lineup, there’s the SRT HELLCAT, featuring the incredible supercharged 6.2-liter (376 cubic-inch) HEMI® HELLCAT V8 engine. This powerhouse generates a remarkable 710 horsepower and 645 lb.-ft. of torque. For those seeking a slightly tamer but still robust option, the SRT392 boasts a 6.4-liter (392 cubic-inch) SRT HEMI® V8, delivering a solid 475 horsepower and 470 lb.-ft. of torque. Stepping down from the SRT trims, the Durango R/T models offer the 5.7-liter (345 cubic-inch) HEMI® V8 as standard (optional on Citadel models), producing a capable 360 horsepower and 390 lb.-ft. of torque. On the other hand, the SXT, GT, and Citadel models come equipped with the renowned 3.6-liter (220 cubic-inch) Pentastar V6, offering up to 295 horsepower and 260 lb.-ft. of torque. Regardless of your engine choice, all Durango models benefit from the smooth-shifting 8-speed TorqueFlite automatic transmissions for a refined driving experience. The 2024 Durango is poised to dominate its class with this diverse range of power options.
Towing Dominance –
In 2024, Durango continues to uphold its esteemed reputation for unmatched towing capabilities. The SRT HELLCAT, SRT392, and R/T models, now equipped with the Tow N’ Go Package, proudly deliver an impressive towing capacity of 8,700 lbs (3,946 kg). The exciting development is that even the luxurious Citadel model can now be outfitted with the Tow N’ Go Package, provided it’s paired with the 5.7-liter HEMI® V8 engine. This means you can relish premium towing performance without any compromise on opulence.
However, the Tow N’ Go Package isn’t just about towing prowess. It also elevates the 5.7-liter HEMI® Durango all-wheel drive (AWD)’s top speed to 145 mph (233 km/h). Alongside this, it introduces a range of Drive Modes, including Track, Sport, Snow, and Tow, and enhances the vehicle with the SRT performance exhaust and fine-tuning the SRT active noise cancellation. Additionally, the R/T model bestows Red Brembo® brakes (while Citadel models come with Black brakes, with the option to upgrade to Red).
But let’s not overlook the award-winning 3.6-liter Pentastar V6, which boasts a commendable towing capacity of up to 6,200 lbs (2,812 kg).
Another noteworthy feature in the 2024 Durango lineup is the comprehensive integration of Blind-Spot Monitoring (BSM) across all models. Moreover, BSM with Trailer Detect is now a standard inclusion in all models equipped with the sought-after Trailer-Tow Group, enhancing safety and awareness for towing enthusiasts.
Safety –
The Dodge Durango offers versatile seating options to accommodate different passenger needs. The standard configuration includes seven-passenger seating, while the GT and R/T models provide the option of second-row captain’s chairs, allowing for multiple seating configurations. In contrast, the Durango Citadel, SRT392, and SRT HELLCAT models have three rows of seating as standard, featuring second-row captain’s chairs and six-passenger seating.
For families with three or more children, the Durango’s available captain’s chairs with a pass-through feature are particularly useful. This design allows child safety seats to be securely attached to each second-row seat, while passengers can easily pass through to access the third row.
Safety is a top priority in the Dodge Durango, with more than 60 available safety and security features. These include standard Blind-spot Monitoring with trailer detection for models equipped for towing trailers. The Durango also has seven standard airbags, including full-length three-row side-curtain airbags and standard front-seat-mounted side-thorax airbags. Front-row active head restraints are also included for added protection.
Furthermore, the Durango offers standard trailer-sway control to enhance towing safety. For advanced safety features, consumers can opt for technology such as forward collision warning with crash mitigation, Adaptive Cruise Control with Stop, Rear Cross Path detection, and Uconnect Access, including 9-1-1 call and roadside assistance.
Specifically, Forward Collision Warning is available as part of an optional package for the entry-level SXT model, providing an extra layer of safety by alerting the driver to potential frontal collisions. This feature allows the driver to take evasive action or apply the brakes in a timely manner to avoid or reduce the severity of an accident.
