Dodge Recalls 298,000 Dart Sedans For Shifter Cable Defect

Transmission Issue May Cause Loss Of Park Function and Vehicle Rollaway Risk

Stellantis (FCA US, LLC) is recalling approximately 298,439 units of its 2013–2016 Dodge Dart models due to a potential defect involving the transmission shifter cable. The issue may cause the shifter cable to detach from the transmission, preventing the vehicle from properly engaging the park (P) position and resulting in a loss of park function.

A loss of park function could allow the vehicle to roll away unexpectedly, increasing the risk of a crash or injury.

Vehicles Affected –

2013 Dodge Dart Limited and Rallye. (Dodge).

The recall applies to 2013–2016 model-year Dodge Dart vehicles equipped with automatic transmissions. The suspect production period began on February 24, 2012, and ended on October 4, 2016. Vehicles built outside of this timeframe or equipped with manual transmissions are not included.

Defect Description –

2013 Dodge Dart Limited. (Dodge).

According to Stellantis, a failure of the transmission shift cable connection can result in an unexpected and unrecoverable loss of PARK (“LoP”) function, leading to possible unintended vehicle movement. This may occur without prior warning, posing a potential safety hazard to both occupants and bystanders.
