Dodge Rebrands Attitude in Mexico as Attitude R/T

Sportier Sedan Gets A Bold New Identity

When Dodge decided to freshen up its compact sedan lineup in Mexico, it didn’t just roll out a new trim—it changed the name entirely. As of July, the popular Dodge Attitude now officially goes by Dodge Attitude R/T, making “R/T” part of the car’s name rather than a trim designation. That means shoppers can actually buy an Attitude R/T SXT, Sport, or GT, which has already caused a little confusion, but Dodge says the move helps separate this new performance-inspired model from the value-focused Attitudes of years past.

The name change also signals a radical break from history. The previous generation of the Attitude was based on the Mitsubishi Mirage G4, a budget-minded sedan known more for efficiency than excitement. By switching to the Chinese-built GAC Trumpchi Empow, Dodge wanted to highlight that the Attitude R/T is no longer a rebadged economy car—it’s a completely different machine with modern styling, more power, and a much sportier personality.

The Attitude R/T isn’t just about a badge. Built in China and derived from the GAC-Trumpchi Empow, this sedan is loaded with performance-minded engineering. It comes standard with a turbocharged 1.5-liter I4 engine pushing 168 horsepower and 184 lb-ft of torque, paired with a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.

For a compact sedan, those numbers put it in a different league than economy-minded rivals. Dodge claims a 0-100 km/h (0-62 mph) run in 6.95 seconds, with a top speed of 203 km/h (126 mph), while still delivering impressive fuel efficiency—up to 22.55 km/l (53 mpg).

Handling, Safety, and Tech –

Performance doesn’t end at the engine bay. Every Attitude R/T rides on independent suspension at all four corners, offering precise handling. The GT trim gets Michelin Pilot Sport 4 tires straight from the factory. Dodge even added an active dual exhaust system, giving drivers the option to change the car’s sound depending on the mood.

Inside, the cabin blends tech and comfort with a 10.25-inch infotainment screen, wireless charging, ventilated seats, and even a USB interface for dashcam use. Safety is a strong point too, with six airbags, disc brakes at all four wheels, stability control, and advanced driver assistance systems capable of Level 2 semi-autonomous driving.

Pricing and Positioning –

The 2025 Dodge Attitude R/T lineup in Mexico starts at $388,900 MXN (about $22,000 USD) for the SXT, moves to $419,900 MXN (about $23,800 USD) for the Sport, and tops out at $499,900 MXN (around $28,300 USD) for the GT. With Mopar backing the car with a 6-year/120,000-km (75,545-mile) warranty, Dodge is betting buyers will see it as the most complete sedan in its segment.

Why It Matters –

By repositioning the Attitude as the Attitude R/T, Dodge isn’t just slapping a sporty badge on a budget car. Instead, it’s redefining its compact sedan strategy in Mexico, moving away from the Mirage G4’s economy-car roots and aiming squarely at younger buyers who want style, performance, and affordability in one package. Judging by sales, the move is working—the Attitude R/T has quickly become Dodge’s most popular model in the region and is now one of the top-10 best-selling compact sedans in Mexico.
