The 2024 Dodge Hornet is the brand’s first-ever electrified performance vehicle and is designed to disrupt the compact utility vehicle (CUV) segment. The Dodge Hornet GT returns as the industry’s fastest and most powerful gas-powered CUV. It is equipped with the Hurricane4 engine, a 2.0-liter turbocharged inline four-cylinder, delivering 268 horsepower and 295 lb.-ft. of torque. The GT model reaches 0 to 60 mph in 6.5 seconds in Sport Mode.

New for 2024, the Dodge Hornet R/T performance hybrid is the most powerful utility vehicle in its segment, with 288 horsepower and 383 lb.-ft. of torque. It features a 15.5-kWh lithium-ion battery that provides 32 miles of all-electric range and achieves an EPA-estimated 77 MPGe. The hybrid model also has a total range of 360 miles. It introduces the class-exclusive, on-demand PowerShot feature, which delivers a burst of 30 horsepower, resulting in a 0 to 60 mph time of 5.6 seconds. The Hornet R/T offers three hybrid driving modes: Hybrid, Electric, and E-Save. It also has a Sport Mode for a more performance-focused driving experience.

The interior features premium materials, including class-exclusive Alcantara seats and leather seating options. The vehicle offers a best-in-class 12.3-inch digital cockpit cluster screen and a 10.25-inch Uconnect 5 infotainment system with Android-based technology. I really wanted a vehicle with an e-axle. Is the Dodge Hornet worth 10 grand more than the Corolla Cross Hybrid? People complain about the price of the Corolla Cross hybrid because Toyota's own RAV4 hybrid is available for only a few grand more.

How come Toyota can combine an e-axle with their front drive hybrid transmission and Stellantis can't?

Toyota make souless appliances the RAV is a horrible car... I die a little driving it, just so boring and unremarkable. I haven't driven a Hornet yet but if its the anywhere close to as unremarkable I will cry.

It's a great appliance though.

My wife's Prius is the same, but its so cheap to operate, and she doesn't care for the same things as me in a vehicle. There's a lot of people out there that just want a good appliance car.

Heart breaking.... my wife had the best handling SUV on the planet with suspension designed by the Farrari engineer, but it didn't have a touch screen and rear heated seats!!!! She got constant compliments. But it didn't have automatic brighs lights.

See GREAT and appliance are mutually exclusive comments. RAV does nothing well or outstanding. There is zero joy in driving it. It goes from point A to point B with little fair either way. The only thing remarkable about it is in how unremarkable it is.

I have driven the new Prius and love it. It will be interesting to see if the RAV4 gets a similar transformation for its next generation. In the meantime Toyota has stuffed the 5th generation hybrid powertrain in the Corolla Cross, this version has an e-axle standard and is priced much less than the Hornet with one.

When I sat in the Hornet at the autoshow I was surprised how cramped the interior is. If one looks at the price per pound of this porky little Dodge, it doesn't seem so bad compared to it less expensive and lighter rivals.
