Italian Midsized SUV Has Been Pushed Back To A Spring 2022 Unveiling...

Maserati has announced that its global premiere of its all-new Grecale D-SUV, has been postponed to Spring 2022. The news comes just after the premium Italian automaker had scheduled the premiere for next month, on November 16th.

Maserati states the decision to postpone the launch of the highly-anticipated Grecale had been caused due to interruptions in the supply chains for the key components necessary to complete the car’s production process. In other words, the shortage of semiconductor chips. Maserati said in an official press release “…due to the shortage of semiconductors, the quantity of production would not allow us to respond properly to the expected global demand.”

Sources close to MoparInsiders.com have stated that Stellantis has been distributing the chips it does get to certain assembly plants that the company has been deemed a priority with hot-selling products. Products like the all-new three-row 2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee L.

Based on the Alfa Romeo Stelvio, the Grecale will be the second SUV offered by the Italian marque. It will be the brand’s first D-segment SUV and will slot in just below the Levante E-segment SUV, which made its debut back in 2016. Grecale will feature a trio of powertrains, consisting of internal combustion engines (ICEs), mild-hybrid electric (mHEV), and eventually battery-electric (BEV) options.

Over the past several months, we have seen various Grecale prototypes out testing on public roads in Italy. Those vehicles and a bizarre post on an online auction site featuring various parts for the Grecale have given us a good picture of what the all-new SUV will look like once it hits dealers.
