The Maserati Ghibli has offered customers an Italian executive tourer sedan capable of taking on the Germans. Over the years, the Ghibli helped increase the global presence of the Italian marque. But now, the Automotive News is reporting that the Ghilbi will more than likely be discontinued after the 2022 model year.

Assuming that the Automotive News is right, the Ghibli would have been in production for a decade after it made its initial debut at the 2013 Shanghai Motor Show.

Gosh, I hope not, it has been a very big seller in these parts and has brought many to the brand. In my opinion, Maserati is doing the Chrysler 300 thinking process, how do we find something for a once outstanding sedan, hopefully a new niche in a sea of SUVs. Put both on the new Stellantis large platform as sleek hatchback/crossovers sharing a new architecture one near luxury with American appeal and one significantly more expensive and with Italian flair. Add Chrysler and Maserati to Dodge awaiting this new platform. Worth a try.
