Stellantis N.V. and Samsung SDI today announced that they have executed binding, definitive agreements to establish an electric-vehicle battery manufacturing facility in Kokomo, Indiana. Targeted to start in 2025, the plant aims to have an initial annual production capacity of 23 gigawatt-hours (GWh), with an aim to increase to 33 GWh in the next few years. The total capacity would increase further as demand for Stellantis electric vehicles is expected to rise.

Interesting the Canadian plant partner is LG but Samsung in the states?

I would take a guess that there is a bit of risk management in diversifying your supply chain by choosing to use two different suppliers.

Best not to put all your eggs in one basket.

Great news for Kokomo, especially since transmissions will be less needed in EVs.

The 500e also uses Samsung batteries. It's good not to be dependent on only one supplier.
