The old EC5M engine used in the Peugeot and Citroën brands is expected to be abandoned in Brazil. In addition to it, we can also wait for the end of THP in the regional models of the two French companies.

The reason is that the synergy within Stellantis will be much faster than we think and Firefly Turbo engines will also serve the products of the old PSA.

This was confirmed by Carlos Tavares, CEO of Stellantis, who came to Brazil to inaugurate the production line for the new engines in Betim-MG. The executive, who also visited Goiana-PE, said that the investment will benefit the French.

Hopefully this will also happen in Europe.

Here is the thing. Firefly from the technology point and versatility point is for sure way to go.

But... But ex PSA part of the Stellantis is very well known for very low CAPEX. That means that they are not known for spending on factory upgrades. The question is can they switch from EP and EB to GSE without much expense. If they can't they will not do it in the Europe. That's PSA's way of doing things.

But in the Latin America PSA is much behind FCA in terms of introduction of modern powertrain but also in marker share and factory utilisation.

makes sense but will it be the last ICE engines developed outside of NA?

I would say they will be the last ICE engines developed yes.
Not sure about US though.

The last major investment. We will see further development and evolution of existing engine families.

But now at this moment it's more and more apparent that Tavares and his Conference Call speech was only and exclusively about Europe.
