Executive leadership is a tough setting in spite of the perks. Your leadership style, methodology let’s call it, is important if you want to be successful. Mine was acquired over time and my trusted go to method was not to have all “yes people” in my inner circle, but enough to control most situations, call it a survival insurance policy. This world of leading organizations is a conspiracy theorist’s playground for good reason. Everybody wants your job, most likely your yes people who for me were suspect number one. Insecurity is ever present and manipulation out of caution or to push an agenda must have the face of confidence and toughness and may I add, fairness and decisiveness. I tempered that with an open mind, mostly the opinions from my critics. The no people gave me some leverage over their hostile constituents since their inclusion gave them skin in MY game. Lastly, always have some tasty eats at meetings.
This move, I’d bet the ranch, is no coincidence, bad luck or chance happening it is for a reason. Being Captain on a floundering ship in rough waters is a job few can handle with kid gloves, but it’s one that must involve the suspected ones walking the plank. If not it’s Davy Jone’s Locker for you. Nasty business mate.
