Stella going all Electric or not?

They're referring to Europe. But all future ICE powertrain development has stopped in the US except an upgraded engine for the HD trucks and a PHEV for the 3L I6. There has been no additional ICE investment after those two are released. Hopefully US BEV sales absolutely tank and the stupidity of these french executives is surfaced.
 
I now have to deal with BEVs on a daily basis. I lost my parking space at work because it now has a level 2 charger and is labeled "EV Only". I don't know if consumers will buy them, but in some places the government is forcing rental fleets to purchase them.

The questions I would like to ask on this thread. Who are these people? , and Why should the executives care? Most automotive executives didn't rise to the top because of possessing superior technical knowledge and engineering skill. They are cut from the same cloth as politicians. People who have to deal with reality on a daily basis who do posses knowledge and skill have laid out a road map to electrification. The timeline was longer and there was a lot more diversity of power trains. There was to be more hybrids from mild to full and plugin electric ones. Pure battery electrics would have a smaller segment of the market while the public got used to plugging in with PHEVs. The electric grid and charging infrastructure would grow to meet the demand instead of the chaos the is suddenly happening.

Top brass don't seem to be in agreement or they don't talk to each other.

What maybe confusing, is that Carlos speaks out against EV mandates especially against “drop dead dates” for ICE powertrain .
But at the very same , he push Government subsides & invectives in all areas of EV (EV buyers, EV Charging,EV tooling, Battery-related production , ETC,ETC) and Stellantis itself will be a leader in EV.
That can all get confusing.

The executives are seduced by the planned built in obsolesce of BEVs (vs. ICE - BEVs after 150K-200K miles are severely degraded vs ICE counterparts) and gutting the unions with fewer Production / skilled trades jobs. It's pure greed.
 
Look they are talking in CODE..... "All-IN" doesn't mean exclusively. Right now they are trying to sort the issue of the impracticality of running 2 of the same models at 2 different capacities. Even within the same product facility skateboard versus conventional drivetrain is big ask down the same line.

They are "All IN" because they were given NO CHOICE by regulators. The thing is many markets especially South America, Large portions of NA the market is still liquid stored energy. So, the management comes off bipolar.
 
Much wisdom on this thread, again. Even the most enthusiastic electrification advocate must acknowledge that government regulations and environmental psycobabble alone won’t make their ambitions reality. ICE are here to stay, maybe forever, for not only supply and technology reasons but because most consumers just an’t buying their arguments. You can bet as it has been stated here attached that veiled and nuanced management statements must be taken with much skepticism as even the bean counters and compliance managers must know, it’s not happening as advertised. Indeed, products like Challenger, Charger, Jeep and Ram will depend on and their buyers will demand a gas powered engine under the hood, in some form anyway, for decades to come. Sorry to disappoint some folks, but that be reality guys. Long live carbon emissions!
 
Only folks who will be disappointed will be the share holders and Mopar fans in CARB states. Despite writing long elegant but nonsensical post the absolute regulatory reality is if the company wants to do business in those state and countries they MUST have a product offering no matter how much individuals on this forum complain

There's more than enough overpriced BEV for California and New York to buy and I could care less if Chrysler sales collapse there - they got what they voted for.

It's not like those extra Ram 1500s, Wranglers, Grand Cherokees, Gladiators won't be bought in flyover country ;)

By all means - let them mandate and enforce 100% BEV in those shi-, I mean - states. More product for the rest of the country.

There is more than enough profit for continued investment in both ICE and BEV - it is malfeasance to stop ICE powertrain development. The consumer preference split is down the middle and mirrors the political reality in this country. There's more than enough overpriced BEV for California and New York to buy and I could care less if Chrysler sales collapse there - they got what they voted for.

It's not like those extra Ram 1500s, Wranglers, Grand Cherokees, Gladiators won't be bought in flyover country ;)

If they think Ram 1500 buyers will settle for the Inline- 6 engine, they are in for a disappointing surprise, when their nemesis competitors are still offering V8 in the large volume trims.
TRX and Raptor R showed that people cared about a high performance V8 rather than a high performance V6.
The same thing goes for the updated Mustang vs the upcoming rumored ICE Challenger.

Really???? Because they seem pretty darn happy with the inline 6 in the HD trucks.

Slower more expensive V8 with a throaty exhaust is going be a interesting claim as preference. Remember Ford represents Sallantis not Dodge…. Low volume V8s within corporate structure for specialty SRT are still possible

The inline-6 in the HD trucks is diesel .
The inline-6 in Ram 1500 is gasoline.

There’s not going to be a low volume V8 if they are going to stop development and production.

The only V8 I can gather that’s staying is the Ram HD 6.4l .
 
I have to believe Ram at least notices that V8s are still necessary for trucks (3/4" ton at least) and since it is necessary for those, we can hop that a v8 option will remain in the 1500s. If not then why has GM added a new V8 and Ford has added two v8s recently.

For the cars - I don't know what to think Dodge will do. Hard to believe they'd let Ford offer a v8 option for longer than dodge will.

Europe is going 100% "electrified". NA is still to be about 50% "electrified" for Dodge/Ram/Jeep by 2030 correct? Or was that just jeep? (Electrified as in BEV+PHEV)

Current state, jeep is >50% electrified in europe already.
 
V8 slower than a I6 is unmarketable….
So people are now claiming there is no low volume v8 development inside the entire corporate structure….. bahahaha
