RECALL: 2018 Jeep Cherokee Models For Fuel Leaks:
49,000 Vehicles Effected...

FCA US has announced this morning that it will be recalling roughly 49,000 2018 model year Jeep Cherokees. Almost all of the 49,000 Cherokees are located in the United States. About 1,666 are in Canada and another 674 Cherokees are outside the North America market. The models being recalled are equipped with the 2.4-liter Tigershark I-4 engine.

After receiving reports in February of fires in the engine compartment, FCA US internally started looking for answers. FCA engineers looked at the location and routing of the fuel supply tubes and any potential ignition sources near the tubes. FCA US has requested the supplier, Copper Standard, investigate the issue while FCA checked warranty data. No crashes or injuries were found because of the issue.

FCA believes the Jeeps were built between September 1st, 2017, and January 4th, 2018, when the supplier changed how it manufactured the fuel tubes.

Not all of the 2018 Jeep Cherokee vehicles equipped with 2.4-liter engines are included in this recall because they were built with fuel tubes manufactured by the supplier on a different production line.

The Jeep Cherokee recall begins June 20th, 2018.

Cherokee owners may contact FCA at 800-853-1403 with reference recall number U39.

We've already been notified about the recall and notifications to customers will go out tomorrow. We've actually already performed this recall on one of our in-stock Cherokees, though it only involved an inspection rather than any kind of repair.
