Ram CEO Tim Kuniskis is expressing a strong desire to add another van to the brand’s lineup. Speaking with Automotive News, Kuniskis emphasized his interest in a passenger van, even as the market for minivans appears to be shrinking.

Nice looking van. Could use it for the new ProMaster City. That is a nice nitch we lost part of in 2023. I get that they will keep it an EV, but an ICE version is a must. The 143 mile version will never cut it in the delivery field (Amazon/FedEx), not even sure it the 205 would either. Most delivery vans are left running when the driver steps out to drop the package. That along in the cold winter states may have an issue the a long charge issue. Long delivery versions may need an ICE. The EV’s would probably be better for service vans or short delivery vans, like auto parts, or flower delivery.

"Kuniskis emphasized his interest in a passenger van, even as the market for minivans appears to be shrinking." It might appear to be shrinking from the view out the window at Auburn Hills, but all the minivans of the competition have experienced a growth in sales in 2024.

I wonder where it would be built in light of the tariff threat and the decades old chicken tax. Knockdowns perhaps?

I see the Rivian vans in cold weather cities. They work great for larger cities. The short one has a range of 161 miles and the long one's range is 153 miles. Amazon has a private charging network of Level 2 charging stations at the terminals. The range has not been a problem with them since they also have ICE powered vans in their fleet for service further beyond the depot.

Hey Tim! We want the Doblo EZ Pro. Just put the hybrid system out of the front drive Renegade hybrid in it.

Good way to build your Fleet(overall) total is Fleet(actual commercial) sales. Bring it on.

This also seems a better size for the USA market.

I agree with Triple, this is a better size for our market. I also agree with Mike that an ICE version is necessary, even required, to succeed in our market. Again, this is not Europe and the requirements are different.
The original City had a passenger van option which had a very limited capacity for hauling groups of people from place to place. I’d give a passenger van a shot at our market.
Walking away, as Ram did in essence, from a potential market especially in the urban areas was shortsighted. Just do it already.
