Let's play a little game of plant shuffle + renovation / where upcoming Products will be built.

Known Constants -

1) Both Mexico and Canada have favorable export clauses with the EU for EVs
2) Before Sergio passed, he wanted to bring the HD trucks home
3) The next Charger and Challenger are being built in Windsor
4) Brampton is underutilized
5) Belvidere is underutilized
6) Tonale/Hornet PHEVs are built in Italy, and are not eligible for the EV tax credit
7) We know there is a STLA large/wide Bronco fighter coming, the silhouette of which appeared during the EV presentation last year
8) STLA Medium = eCMP2, exclusive to Europe (thus far). No known successor (yet), will that successor be introduced as an EV in the US?
9) STLA Small - we are told this will first arrive in 2026, obviously EV based, unknown if there will be any ICE variants at all

Now here comes the speculation -

1) Brampton will be retooled to build STLA Large - the Bronco fighter, the upcoming Cherokee (KM), and the Chrysler Airflow
2) Belvidere will be retooled / expanded to build HD trucks
3) Saltillo will build STLA Small / Medium EVs at some point in the future
4) There will be some sort of separate facility to exclusively build EVs of the future - Wrangler EV, Grand Cherokee EV, Ram EV. I know of no OEM that builds EVs alongside ICE vehicles on the same line. That is why Ford is building that huge facility in Tennessee, to increase their jobs per hour of their upcoming electric pickup (that has better aero than the F-150 Lightning), Explorer EV, and Bronco EV.

If the Hornet is the success I think it'll be, it wont be long before it ends up being built over here, probably Mexico, the margin on that thing currently comes from the Italian gov't.

The only product left in Belvidere is the Cherokee and according to the 2023 Stellantis Fleet brochure it is now a reduced trim and option model, just as the Dodge Journey was in its final season. So I'm guessing Belvidere will undergo major retooling starting next summer. Tomorrow is 4Xe day, so we will get more tea leaves to read.

Remember it nearly impossible to economically to ship fully assembled battery units. So plants need to be close.

Interesting topic.

First of all yours truly badly wants a Ram Power Wagon but it has to be American built. So PLEASE come north HD'S.

Marshall, Michigan has a build ready super site with rail access and dual Interstate access. Perfect spot for a Stellantis electric plant. Plus Michigan is a tad bit desperate after losing out on the big Ford investments. I dislike the tax break game but it can sway a company.

A second hidden super site is Jeffersonville, Indiana with rail access and Interstate access. I'm shocked that Ford hasn't grabbed it. It would be a cheaper build for Ford. Follow me on this. UPS is BEGGING for more space at the Louisville Airport. Ford builds a new plant in Jeffersonville to replace Louisville Assembly Plant (LAP). Ford then sells the old LAP site to UPS for a healthy price.

Belvidere Assembly has plenty of room to expand especially if the satellite stamping is done away with. Stellantis/FCA has experience with plant changeover from cars to trucks thanks to Sterling Heights.

It is a darn shame to see Belvidere Assembly being under utilized.

It could easily do 350k Rams from 2500-3500 with upgrading.

Plenty of room for suppliers to set up and for the plant to expand.

Recon will be built in Brampton. Brampton is the dedicated global (export) EV facility.

What other EVs will Brampton build? I could see the Dodge EVs being built there as well.

Wasn't the 200 and Dart on the same platform and could have used this plant to keep already invested product delivering? (the cars did sell and many people didn't care about the low roofline and liked the a la cart options for Dart - just not people on this board)

Another rumor ,STLA Medium production will be coming to Windsor (next 2025 Compass and a FIAT-branded EV). The company did promise the Canadian Government two architectures at Windsor.

hmm. I don't know other OEMs that are doing EVs and ICE at the same facility, will be interesting to see that happens at Windsor.

Brampton is closer to the ocean.

Stumbled across this. Still awaiting where they'll actually build the new Charger and whatever counterpart it may have.

So this'll be like the Tonale/Hornet situation? The Dodge's aren't for the country they will be built in? Guess there wasn't a suitable factory in Europe for Fiat to place that supposed EV at.
Quick refresher for anyone who needs it, but after the 500X, NA will only have the 500e and strictly that. Still is one of the weirdest decisions I've seen for a manufacturer as of late and I'm hoping it isn't as mindless as I think it will be.

I believe Jeep Recon (EJ), Jeep Cherokee (KM), and Wagoneer S (KX) will be built at Saltillo.

Correct. Compass will slightly grow.

It has been the procedure for a while to idle and update plants, move new model to a previously idled and updated capacity.

Makes sense, so my biggest curiosity is what is going in the next to idle plants like Belveder.

I read this awhile back on one of the sites and I'm excited to see both the Jeep Cherokee and Wagoneer S (or whatever it is officially named). I'm surprised there are no test mule sightings of these roaming around. Seems Stellantis is keeping everything close to the chest until it's close to releasing them.

With the Wagoneer S going fully electric, maybe they'll finally have the smaller Cherokee line mimic the trim levels of the Grand Cherokee? Mazda is moving into a similar space with Jeep there will be a few more options out there. Jeep already has the build quality down, maybe some of Dodges or Alfas handling characteristics can make their way into this KM model?
