Thankful that the article states ”opinion“ clearly.
also glad the Article was composed in a professional, thinking man‘s manor. Whether I agree or disagree, it was worth my time to read it. Most opinion articles are easily skipped after a paragraph or two.
I thank its author for his viewpoint.

I firmly believe working in the aircraft industry that the Chinese want to own everything that makes something.. or if not copy it and sell it cheap.

Where was Frank when Lee was picking Eaton over Lutz?.... Where was Frank when the New Yorkers were going to Sell Jeep to China?

The whole China thing is a Straw dog, The French and Italians are as Nationalistic as anyone they are handing over anything to China.

Mostly this will mean little to NA, it mostly involve Europe where giving the retraction of market and movement away from petrol consolidation is part of survival.

It may be opinion based article but it lacks facts especially when we dwell into politic side of thing.

First of all Chinese can't have Plan B. They are already irrelevant with less than 5% ownership in the new company. This means they will have no Board member. And even if they try to hijack it joint French-Italian forces will crush them. I.e. Peugeot and Agnelli families will also rise their stakes. Don't forget that this company is or will be solely run by 2 families according to their desires. This is similar as how Ferrari and Agnelli families run Ferrari.

And this about France. Their government is not social democratic or any left center and specially nor left. It's centrist which is liberal in Europe. So left in civil rights and less social politics equal center in Europe and usually they are called just liberals. Of course some social rights in Europe are there by default.

I can disagree with some other parts but they are based on pure opinions. Still the fact is that factual part of this opinion based article is just wrong.

@TripleT
Unfortunately AFAIK this week they've officially announced PSA BEV/PHEV platform for Windsor. Mechanical decontent it will be. Production preparation starting in calendar 2023 which will last for 34 weeks. First car or cars will launched as MY2025 in 2024.

Great points,
The whole Netherlands structure makes a hostile takeover by any outside investor impossible to succes without the Board approval , and the Chinese becomes outsiders with the Merger.
PSA has been the most openness to a Merger with FCA, and besides back in 2009 John could have ordered Sergio to cease all Chrysler-related talks which would cause Chrysler to go out of business.
