Jeep Debuts Renegade & Compass PHEVs In Geneva:
New Hybrid Models, Show Their Face In Trailhawk Trim...

The "Charge Tach" is a neat addition to the instrument panel. To me, these two vehicles really feel like a jump up to next generation powertrain technology. Very excited to see FCA flexing their innovation muscle.

This is also a debut of a new PHEV arhitecture. It's nothing like a Pacifica.
Can you explain this more? Or if you have in-depth info, put it in our PM and we can do an article.

@Ryan

Already explained in the articles. And of course in today's press release.

Front and rear are not connected. Front axle is driven by an internal combustion engine. It has classic transmission and not an EVT like Pacifica.
Rear axle is driven by an electric motor.
So depending on a mode and programming this car can be FWD, RWD or eAWD.

On Renegade PHEV 190 HP is for Longitude and Limited and 240 HP for Altitude and Trailhawk.

From Italian media. Translation is by Google.

One note. Battery capacity is 11.4 kWh.

TWO POWERS, OTHERWISE ABUNDANT - Jeep Renegade PHEV and Compass PHEVare identical in the hybrid system, which provides two versions of 190 or 240 hp combined. The difference lies in the 4-cylinder 1.3 turbo, which has 130 and 179 horses respectively and which becomes the main engine when the batteries are "dry", when you want to save the charge or exceed 130 km / h. Traction is integral, just because the 1.3 transfers the bike to the front wheels (through a six-speed automatic transmission), while the electric motor (with about 60 horsepower) does the same with the rear ones. The distribution of power is electronically managed based on grip, and the car's response can be varied by choosing the driving modes from the central knob, as in petrol-only models. But in addition there is the Sport mode, because the performance is expected to be remarkable: for 240 hp versions, the declared '0-100' would take about 7 seconds. And there are three small keys to choose between hybrid and electric only, or to recharge the battery while you're on the road (using the generator moved from 1.3). Another button, in the tunnel, allows you to vary the recovery of energy during slowing down (and, therefore, the engine brake) on three different levels.

OFF ROAD? NO PROBLEM - The Jeep Renegade PHEV and Compass PHEV accumulator, lithium-ion, is placed under the central tunnel and the sofa, so that the habitability remains unchanged and the trunk loses only fifteen liters (due to the presence of electronic control elements, but do not let the background) . Produced by LG, the battery pack is cooled by the same engine coolant, protected by lowered parasol plates and waterproofed so as to easily overcome the fords; It has a capacity of about 10 kWh and can be recharged in just over 3 hours by connecting to a 3.5 kW socket and in a couple of hours if the supplied current reaches 7 kW (the maximum expected). The off-road operation is interesting, where the designers guarantee that these hybrids behave like and better than the "normal" versions: when an "off road" driving mode is selected, the petrol engine supplies power to the wheels and at the same time activates the current generator to which it is connected, so as to keep the rear electric unit powered to prevent the long climbs; the state of charge, then, never falls below a certain limit, and this reserve of energy is exploited if there is an obstacle so difficult to require all the horses of both the front and rear engines. These off-road skills are evidenced by the fact that the outfits are the same as the other Renegade and Compass, including the "specialist" Trailhawk. rear electric unit to be able to face even the long climbs without falling; the state of charge, then, never falls below a certain limit, and this reserve of energy is exploited if there is an obstacle so difficult to require all the horses of both the front and rear engines. Quick question, does the European Compass have amber rear signals? If so, do you think we could special order one here with them?

Not sure if it does or not, but even if it does you couldn't special order one. They may be available as replacement parts though if you wanted to install them yourself.

And spare parts numbers should be completely different.

Probably would have to order them after the fact since it doesn't "comply with us standards"
