Building on the success of the exclusive 1st Edition, the full-equipped launched version which received over 10,000 reservation online, Jeep® Europe has announced that its have now made the entire lineup of the Avenger (JJ) available for ordering. The Avenger is the Jeep brand’s first battery-electric vehicle (BEV) SUV.

 
The prices in Portugal for the Avenger are just completely ridiculous.
Price starts at 37,800€ for the lowest equipment level and the most expensive at 42,800€.
For a B-SUV. For comparisons sake, a LPG Dacia Duster starts at 18,550€.

And you know what's interesting? Tesla just announced they dropped the price of the Model 3 in Portugal by 10,000€ to an entry price of 45,000€. The Model 3 is a midsize car, two segments above the Avenger.
They need to re-calculate the obscene price of this SUV.

Go for a top spec Jeep Avenger with a 54kWh battery or pay 2,000€ more for a Tesla Model 3 with a 57.5kWh battery and a much bigger range. Mmmmmm.

I'm puzzled with Stellantis'' strategy.
 
Their strategy was to rip-off as much €€€ as possible before there was more competition, because they were caught with their pants down with current vehicles in a compromised platform.
They even bought that CotY award from the Nissan Ariya to try to have nice advertisement and now Tesla blew up their game in one move.
 
It's not bad, just ridiculously badly priced. It would be a a very niche vehicle in the US since this is a sub-compact vehicle.
That's a very small market over there, so it makes no sense to even sell it there.
 
They bought the COTY award? Tell me more! Seems pretty hard with almost 60 journalists involved.

Why is the e-2008 so cheap in comparison? Price not adjusted yet, or adjusted already? The C4 should be C-segment. The Tesla price-drop is great for customers. Let's see how the industry will react to that and the end of chip shortages. On the other hand, Musk could lift the prices again tomorrow, if he feels like it. :whistle:
 
COTY has been political game for many years. Important Italian magazines abandoned it years ago. Wonder why.

BTW... I'm not sure who made engine list for this car but I have feeling that ex FCA brands are screwed over and over again.
For example DS 3 FL has been unveiled with 130 HP diesel and 1.2 liter 100 HP petrol angine available Europe wide.
 
That's just a facelift. I don't see much benefit in a Diesel with the current fuel prices for a subcompact. Avenger is new and complementing the Renegade. I guess Jeep needs more BEV to equalize the emissions of the bigger models in the coming years. DS will be BEV-only soon.
 
CAFE or fleet CO2 emissions are not brand related. They're automotive group related. In this case Stellantis. Maserati is separate from this.

I have some additional drawbacks about this car.
For example very problematic and failure prone PSA engine.
The other is infotainment.

Arguably this platform also offers the worst package in this vehicle class.
 
Infotainment is uConnect. The discontinuation of diesel engines for this segment of cars started even before the merger. The 1.3 Multijet was discontinued in the Panda and 500 before the merger.
Diesel is dead in Europe, there's no point in even wasting money to include it. The future is EVs and hybrids. Even PHEVs don't have much of a future, since most brands just made them as an afterthought where the gas engine needs to be always on and the EV engine is very underpowered.

As for the price of the e-2008, I don't know pumadog. Maybe a more aggressive commercial push of that model in Portugal.
IMO, it might be because many families in Portugal cross-shop between B-SUVs and C-hatchbacks. The e-2008 has a big boot and interior space, so the price is probably aligned with Leaf 60 kWh.
Most people will compare those two models. MG still has a limited dealer network in Portugal.

The CMP platform is compromised, but for 4 metre vehicles I don't think it's terrible since it still offers decent range. And the price of the e-2008 shows they can drop the price.
Stellantis will use the 54kWh battery in the EMP platform vehicles (e-308 and Astra-e). That won't be good at all since those vehicles will compete against models with better range.

Infotainment is uConnect.

It's not. Naming it uConnect doesn't make it one.

Obviously it's the latest it's the latest PSA sourced infotaiment. It looks identical as the one on the latest Opel models.

They even put GSE name on the failure prone 1.2 liter PureDreck engine. :facepalm

54 kWh on all models on different platforms! What to say. PSA is cheap as hell. I don't like it.

Coachwork model has been in place at PSA prior to merger, and continues moving forward.

People are easy to con. The Alfa will be interesting... but its mostly the 600 and Jeep with different coaching.

Other change is higher H point which provided slightly more rear leg room. I think it's called H30 points. I'm messing two different H points.

And last is push for higher performing BEV version which will have rear electric motor and thus will provide 4x4 BEV version. But this will be late to the market.

One interesting thing. This car is 1.52 meters tall or better said short. For comparison your usual European hatchback models are 1.45-1-49 meters tall. C segment SUVs are usually no shorter than 1.62 meters (Tonale or Hornet) which is 10cm/4" taller than this.
This car is just 3 or 4 cm taller than Fiat Tipo. Around 1.5" for those based in the US.
 
Didn't know it was the PSA infotainment. Hopefully it's better than the dreadful infotainment in the 2008. I hated it.
As for the 54 kWh package in EMP vehicles, I don't know if the issue is the EMP platform.
It wasn't supposed to be used for BEVs. IMO it might have severe packaging limitations.

Based on pictures, I really like the proportions of the Avenger. I could imagine the Alfa B-crossover to be more "Crosswagon" than SUV. It can sit lower than the Jeep, just like the Tonale sits lower than the Dodge twin. Punto was 1.49 high, Mito I think 1.45.

Compromised space or not, the PSA B-cars are doing much better than Polo (maybe RIP) and Fiesta (RIP soon) on the market.
