On Thursday, Jeep® introduced its first fully electric vehicle (EV), the Jeep Avenger, to the Japanese market, marking a significant step in the brand’s ongoing electrification strategy. The compact utility vehicle (UV) is poised to test the appetite for EVs in a country still largely dominated by gasoline and hybrid-electric vehicles. The Avenger, assembled in Poland and already a hit in Europe, will start from ¥5.8 million (around $40,000 USD) and be eligible for ¥650,000 ($4,500 USD) in government subsidies in Japan.
