Hey all. I joined a month or so ago. Generally I'm a lurker. I usually dont have much to offer outside of my opinion so I keep quiet. I've primarily been on another forum for quiet a while, all the way back to the original Charger mega thread. I'm a lurker on another Ram forum, but I tend to stay away from there because I have a tendency to spend money on my pickup after I see things there. I joined 5thgenrams also.
I enjoy all of the info we get on Mopar vehicles. My main interest are Rams, and larger suv's. I'm really excited about the upcoming Durango, and Wagoneers. I keep an eye on Charger and Challenger related things because I like performance related stuff and some of those performance goodies trickle over to the vehicles I'm interested in. I keep an eye on the Pacifica, mainly because the lady of the house really wants a minivan. I'd much rather go with a big suv, but it'll make her day so we'll probably get one at some point. Truth be told, it'll probably outrun most vehicles I've had (but I wont tell that to her).
I grew up in a Mopar family.
Cars I grew up riding in.
81 d150 red and white two tone
82 w150 brown and tan
70's Dodge Aspen
84 d250 with a 360 and a four barrel carb. I have to elaborate on this one. I dont know what Dodge did to that thing, but it was a beast. It would smoke the tires and not think about it while it was loaded down with tools and farm supplies. We called it Mighty Whitey. In addition to being a great farm pickup it was excellent at dishing out humble pie. He smoked countless Mustangs, Cameros, and Vettes from that time frame with that pickup. He put dual's on it with glass packs. It sang a loud and proud magical tune when you stepped on it. He held on to that one as long as he could. He still says that he didnt have a pickup that would run with it until he got his 12. He has a 14 with a Hemi now and says Whitey would give it a run for the money.
85 w150
80's Dodge Lancer with a turbo
Late 80's/early 90's gold K car from that era, I want to say it was a Chrysler New Yorker
72 d100 with a 360
Dodge Omni
An older dodge station wagon, but I couldnt begin to tell you which model. I think it was probably from the late 70's but that's just a guess.
An early 70's (I want to say 74) w100 with a 400 big block
79 W200 with a 360
1991 w150 extended cab
97 1500 emerald green
97 extended cab 1500 also
2001 Durango SLT with 5.9
96 extended cab 1500 with a long box
2004 2500 four door with a Cummins 4x4
A couple Plymouth Voyagers
Intrepid
Concorde
81 w100 with a slant six
Probably a few others that I'm forgetting.
Cars I've had
88 short box w150 dark and light blue two tone
91 Plymouth Laser RS Turbo, that thing ran like a screaming banshee . . . when it was running.
93 Dodge Dynasty
97 1500 reg cab, had it for 10 years. I sold it last year.
2000 Dodge Neon
Current cars
2000 Durango with a 5.9, hopefully I can make that one last a few more years.
2012 Ram 2500 4x4 crew cab long box now. It's been great. I've really enjoyed having it. I've added a Hemifever tune, Verraram intake, and Pedal Commander to it. It runs pretty good for a 7,000 pound tuna boat. It'll smoke the tires if I tell it too. I think I'd have a decent chance at beating Whitey with it. And my wife had our third child in it a week after we bought it. We were within eyesight of the hospital, less than a 1/4 mile away. The doctor nurses had a hard time getting her out of the pickup after she had him because they sit so high doesnt have a lift kit). It was kind of comical watching them try to get her on the gurney. My wife is due to have our 4th munchkin in December. I told her I may need a faster car so I can make it to the hospital this time, maybe a Hellcat. She just rolled her eyes.
My dream build would be a 2014ish 2500 and off road goodies, the body of a 84ish crew cab, and a supercharged SRT 6.4.
Here's to many years of riding in Mopars and hopefully many more to come.
Edit: I went back and drastically cut down the length of the original post. A couple more sentences and it would have needed chapters.
