FCA Design Office Cars + Coffee Returns:
First Event Of The Year Starts In June:

IMG_0478.jpg

For the past couple of years, the FCA US Design Office last been running cars and coffee events at the Chrysler Technical Center in Auburn Hills, Michigan. The events have become popular not just for Mopar fans, but automotive fans across the Metro Detroit area. We are happy to say that the first event of the year will take place on June 3rd. All cars are welcome, it doesn’t have to be a Mopar vehicle.

For those attending for the first time, there is no cost in attending the event. Also, the design studio tends to bring out some of the FCA Design Office’s latest concept cars.

When: Sunday, June 3rd, 2018 9:00am to 12:00pm

Where: Chrysler Tech Center (Lot 25), 1000 Chrysler Drive, Auburn Hills, Michigan 48326

We will be there… we hope to see you all there as well.

Summer showtime: FCA Design serves up cars and coffee

Whether it’s lovingly restored and coddled or a work in progress, the special car in your garage is likely an object of affection for other car fans.

Give them a chance to see your four-wheeled classic or modern masterpiece – all makes and models are welcome – at 2018 FCA Design Cars and Coffee show on Sunday, June 3, from 9 a.m. to noon.

We’ve got a big parking lot at the FCA US complex in Auburn Hills, Michigan, open for the event.

The Jeep Wagoneer Roadtrip concept will be at the 2018 FCA Design Cars and Coffee on June 3.
The FCA Design guys have already called dibs on a few spaces because they’re rolling up the door on the concept vehicle warehouse and bringing out some of their greatest hits, including these beauties:

  • SpringFest 13 Dodge Challenger T/A: A special 2018 Dodge Challenger T/A created for this year’s Spring Festival of LX gathering in southern California. Painted a unique color, Fortuno’s Gold, named for SpringFest organizer John Fortuno, along with a Shaker hood and matte black decklid, roof and hood.
  • Classic 1970 Dodge Challenger T/A: A true blast from the past, inspiration for modern muscle.
  • Jeep® Wagoneer Roadtrip: Created for the 2018 Easter Jeep Safari, this is a 1965 Jeep Wagoneer that was stretched and updated yet retains the heritage Wagoneer look. The off-roading upgrades include a boxed and reinforced frame, Dana 44 axles front and rear, four-link suspension with coilover springs and 33-inch mud/terrain tires.
  • Jeep Quicksand: Created for the 2017 Easter Jeep Safari, the Quicksand is loud and fast. A Mopar 392 Crate HEMI® V-8 with eight-stack injection lives under the hood, mated to a six-speed manual transmission. The off-road cred includes a staggered front/rear tire setup, coilover shocks and 37-inch tires.
It won’t surprise us if the designers “borrow” the keys to a couple other vehicles that add to the Cars and Coffee wow factor. Plus, here’s a chance to check out some of the high-octane that people inside FCA like to drive and keep in their garages.

So get to work with the chrome polish. Here are the key details:

  • Date: Sunday, June 3, from 9 a.m. to noon
  • Place: Lot 25 in the FCA US complex in Auburn Hills, Michigan. Check the map to navigate your way to the lot.
  • Cars: All makes and models welcome (yes, really!). Check out some Dodge and Jeep concepts.
  • Coffee: Available for purchase on site, along with water and some food. Or bring your own.
  • Rules: Be respectful. No burnouts!
Let us know you’re coming at the FCA Design Cars and Coffee events page on Facebook.

Jeep Quicksand Concept – The HEMI-Powered Jeep Sand Rod:
Rat Rod + Wrangler + HEMI Power = One Sweet Ride...

We had a chance to catch up with the 2017 Jeep Quicksand Concept this weekend at the FCA Design Cars + Coffee event at the Chrysler Technical Center in Auburn Hills, Michigan.

Created for enthusiasts who love the sand life, the Jeep Quicksand is a loud, fast and fun hot rod.

The Quicksand concept is powered by a Mopar 392 Crate HEMI® engine with eight-stack injection, mated to a six-speed Getrag manual transmission. A “peekaboo” cutout in the hood and gasser-style downturned open headers add to the vintage hot rod feel.

This Wrangler-based concept features a longer wheelbase, with trimmed front and rear body and a chopped hard top and windshield. An open top and open windows allow for full enjoyment of Quicksand’s sound and wind-in-your-face freedom.

Inside, the minimalist interior features red accents, two front low-back bucket seats, flat aluminum door panels, tilt-out windshield glass and a chrome roll bar.

While the Quicksand was made for wheeling in sand, its off-road credentials ensure that it is fully capable in any terrain. Its staggered tire setup (a trait never before included on any Jeep concept) features 32-inch BFGoodrich Mud-Terrain KM2 tires in the front and 37-inch BFGoodrich Mud-Terrain KM2 tires in the rear, and coilover shocks, all on 18-inch vintage “kidney bean” alloy wheels.

The Quicksand concept also features a Warn winch concealed in a front-mounted Moon tank. A recovery rope is located in the rear, replacing the traditional drag racer’s parachute.

A fan favorite from the 2017 Easter Jeep Safari, it very unlikely an such product would make it to market. However, the concept did officially show us the face of what would become the 2018 Jeep Wrangler (JL) several months in advance of the launch of the new Wrangler.
