The Eagle brand has a unique place in American automotive history. Born from Chrysler’s acquisition of American Motors Corporation (AMC) in 1987, the brand served as a platform for European-inspired vehicles marketed to enthusiast drivers. Unlike its corporate cousins from Dodge and Plymouth, Eagle aimed to blend import-style handling with American practicality.

I was in with Eagle. Owned a Premier. Owned an Eagle Talon TSI-AWD which I drag raced for years including winning Bracket III Stock Eliminator at the Mopars at Maple Grove 1992 event and runner up Heavy Eliminator at the Mopar Atlantic Nationals at Englishtown. That turbo four AWD was a killer bracket car. Still have the Eagle hats, the sweat shirts and jacket I wore to the races. Yea I was big time into Eagle, but for this point in time in history the big effort is not an Eagle revival, but to relaunch the Chrysler brand.
Looking right now at my framed newspaper photo from the winners circle at Maple Grove in my office. Just call me a piece of Eagle history, I got the goodies and creds to be a genuine Eagle memory.maker.

The Chrysler 300M was supposed to be an Eagle and there was a last minute switch, a smart move. Right now Chrysler needs all the help it can get.

In response to this article I must point out that the Subaru Outback is a moving target, as the 2026 model at the NY auto show demonstrates. The segment that the Chrysler brand invented two decades ago and then abandoned with the Pacifica wagon is thriving today. While Chrysler holds a diminishing lead in the minivan segment, Hyundai upped their game with the latest Palisade also debuting in NY, the older model of it sold 110,000 units last year. I didn't go to the NY show, I just watched the highlights on YouTube. The Chrysler display should be shown on Sesame Street with that Halcyon concept next to the heritage models that says, "One of these things is not like the other", pathetic.

I wish one of these digital artists would take the latest Peugeot 5008 and turn it back into the Chrysler model that it was originally supposed to be.

It's not a bad design but it doesn't say Eagle in any way. Looks like every other generic SUV on the road. It even has the grossly overused trapezoid shape around the license plate like the vast majority of SUVs. A more modernized Giorgetto Giugiaro inspired look would have been much better.
