Could We See The Next-Gen Jeep® Compass By Year-End?

The next-generation Jeep® Compass (J4U) is rumored to be gearing up for its official debut by the end of the year, as reported by British car magazine AutoExpress. The Compass needs it's own identity. It would be nice if it was Rwd & 4wd like a proper Jeep. Should bring back the Patriot name of smaller Wrangler.

A Jeep with the Patriot name would face endless ridicule if produced outside North America. The next generation of the Renegade will be produced in Europe and Latin America, unless it goes on to use the STLA medium platform.

The recently announced Opel Frontera will offer a 3-row version. This suggests the small platform can be stretched to the size and proportions of a Jeep Patriot. Just don't use that name. Also offer a mild hybrid option to keep it affordable.

The next Compass desperately needs to have a 48V 4Xe option like the Avenger offers. There are a few vendors offering suitable transmissions, if that Stellantis built unit isn't durable enough to use in the larger Compass under American driving conditions.

Stellantis has a pattern of introducing the pure battery electric version of a new vehicle first, followed by other drive train options later. It is logical to assume the Compass and Cherokee models will follow the same pattern.
