Chrysler Introducing Self-Driving Pacifica Hybrid To The Masses:
At Consumer Electronics Show (CES) This Week...

Chrysler will be introducing a self-driving Pacifica Hybrid, this week at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas, Nevada. Chrysler had talked about their plan to bring such a vehicle to the mass-market in their Capital Market’s Day presentation back in June of last year.

FCA stated in the same presentation that their goal was to be one of the first OEMs to the retail market with autonomous driving. The self-driving Pacifica Hybrid will feature the same technology that was developed by Waymo on their Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid self-driving program.

Back in May of 2018, FCA US announced they would expand their partnership with an agreement to add up to 62,000 Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid minivans to Waymo’s self-driving fleet.

FCA US and Waymo also announced that they were beginning discussions about the use of Waymo self-driving technology, including potentially through licensing, in a FCA-manufactured vehicle available to retail customers.

“FCA is committed to bringing self-driving technology to our customers in a manner that is safe, efficient and realistic,” said Sergio Marchionne, Former Chief Executive Officer, Fiat Chrysler Automobiles N.V. “Strategic partnerships, such as the one we have with Waymo, will help to drive innovative technology to the forefront.”

Will the retail versions have the obvious sensors that the current Waymo units have?

From the testing mule, doesn’t look like it. Iirc, MOPAR showed a headlight unit that encorporated quite a few sensors at a show last year.

Yeah, I would assume that they wouldn't be as obvious too.

(Hopefully they can close the sliding door too :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO: )

Consumer Reports would staff would experience a bloodbath in their editorial review staff. Might be worth it...
