The news is from Autos Segredos:

Platform in question is Small Wide. It will be bigger than Fiat Toro and will be sold under RAM brand.

This is the same class as Toyota Hilux and Chevy S10 (Colorado). Hilux od roughly the same size as Tacoma but little narrower.

I welcome this innovative thinking from Stellantis. They are going with a unibody design against BOF pick ups.

I would like to see this as a worldwide project.

Correct. It will be exclusive to the Ram brand for the LATAM market.

In the above link to an autos segredos article posted on march 4th 2022 this new RAM 1200 is said to be confirmed by Antonio Filosa.

The real news to me in this article is the fact that they claim this RAM 1200 will also come to the US market to compete with the Ford Maverick.

As they don't quote Filosa it obviously could be conjecture by the journalist from autos segredos.

I can't imagine a way that importing the Ram 1200 from Brazil into North America would be practical. Don't get me wrong, I would love such a truck, if it fits in the cubical the landlord gave me for a parking space. The Ford Maverick would fit in there as well as the Fiat Toro. So I wonder what is going into Toluca to replace the Fiat 500 and Dodge Journey that used to be built there.

I've driven the Maverick and it is very tempting. I don't think Ram should ignore this segment for North America. Ford also offers their hybrid system in a lower level trim for both the Maverick and Escape. The Stellantis marketing gurus shouldn't ignore that either.

I agree that this RAM 1200 will never get imported to the U.S. from Brazil.
But where autos segredos in the original 2021 article explicitly stated that the vehicle was not intended for the U.S. in the new 2022 article they explicitly mention it is intended for the U.S.

I think such a RAM 1200 could be an ideal vehicle to built in Mexico.

Maybe it is being developed in Brasil to be manufactured in Toluca.
Although Autosegredos does post some wrong information sometimes.
