In today’s global market an auto company can not ignore markets like Mexico to build volume and test the viability of product that may have potential elsewhere.
Frankly, I look to Brazil and its talented Stellantis enterprise for these purposes.
Objectively, for example, the Ram Rampage pickup might be the first vehicle developed there to make it in volume here. Not only is ithe Rampage sales ready, but the majority of R&D work has been done and paid for bringing something to our market at a substantial savings. It also allows Stellantis to created a serious industrial complex rivaling anything in the world to focus on third world products without diverting precious resources from Europe and North America. I think India could play a similar role in Asia.
As to North America, with Stellantis deep pockets and cutting edge resources our beloved domestic brands have the ability to bring vehicles to market they would never had either pre or post Fiat/ Chrysler. Hard truth.
Bottom line, these facilities and products can not be ignored or underestimated.
