Jeep® India has begun delivering its new three-row Meridian (H6) SUV to its customers. A clone of the Brazilian-built Jeep Commander (H1), the Meridian is manufactured in India and features a few subtle changes including Right-Hand-Drive (RHD) for the Indian marketplace.

Jeep® has refreshed its three-row Meridian SUV to revitalize its performance in the competitive Indian market. The Meridian, a right-hand-drive (RHD) version of the Jeep Commander, has struggled to gain traction in India, even as its counterpart, the Commander, enjoys substantial success in Brazil. The recent updates to the Meridian include exterior design tweaks, interior enhancements, and new trim options, all in hopes of attracting more customers.

Not sure if anyone else recognizes many similarities in this Meridian and our current Jeep Grand Cherokee. The more distinctive character lines on the lower door area and the tail lights might have helped the all too bland and brick look of the very boring Grand Cherokee which neither looks elegant or rugged and has failed at either in a ho hum execution that the character line differences in the Brazilian design might have cured. As a multiple time Grand Cherokee owner I just can’t get excited about the GC and hope a major refresh gets folks back into what is otherwise an appealing product. This generation GC is neither fish or fowl, neither elegant or aggressive. The Jeep design team just missed big time on the design and viewing the Meridian just makes that obvious.
Time for a major refresh Jeep.
