Since Stellantis’ EV Day 2021 presentation, the Ram brand has been pushing around a new electrified term that not many people have understood – Range Electric Paradigm Breaker (REPB). Many sound points made here that reinforce my claim that this rush to electric is froth with danger for the industry. Are there some who will embrace the technology and be served well by it, indeed yes. But for the vast majority there is a mountain of reasons why they fully reject this electrification hysteria, it doesn’t work for them. The no how, no way mindset of the vast majority is being wished away by a politically driven agenda of an elite few who believe they know better. Just a bit of sanity and a warning from old Mopar Willy, proceed at your peril. Jared has made some sound arguments that echo my thinking here, No how, no way. That is a loud and clear message that is being ignored. Too bad.

Battery electric works great for fleets that have trucks running fixed routes or operating within a specific geographic region, from a fixed point. FedEx and UPS are examples of the latter. Fixed routes would be businesses such as laundry companies which have regular planned routes. The technology does not work well at all for interstate travel.

What is fun to watch is the battle of the battery electric grifters and the contractors for the next generation USPS delivery vehicles. There is a lot of corruption on both sides, and they are fighting over who gets to gouge the taxpayers.

The REPB could be best solution for the rest of this decade for most pickup truck owners, provided it strikes the right balance between ICE and BEV.
Why? Because $4-$6/100 miles on electricity is big savings compared to $25-$30/100 miles on gas, and 600miles per tank of gas is much better than 300miles per charge, especially when range is cut in half due to moderate towing.

If someone plans to haul a fifth wheel, horse trailer or race car around the country, just buy a diesel. Full stop.

For the rest of us, to make the REPB a truly attractive option, RAM needs to give it a "small for a truck" battery (about 100kWh) in a proper dual motor BEV platform and a "small for a truck" gas engine running a generator.
Around town and for short trips, run on electricity only - much faster, much quieter and much cheaper to run than gas.
On longer trips, the range extender gives extra hours of driving.
Going off into the bush, camping, fishing or special events? Have near endless silent power for heating, cooking, making coffee, lighting, toys, charging trolling motor batteries, powering a projector for movie night, etc.

If they build it like that, it will be my first RAM vehicle.
